Information: The RGM-79C Powered GM was basically a normal GM with a few add-ons. One of these add-ons and the one that gave it's name was a powerful backpack that gives it a very high thrust and acceleration. The GM also required shock absorbers to be inserted in it's legs because of the high impact on landing. A problem was that the GM was never designed to handle the backpack and other features. They had to put control systems for these in "boxes" that covered the knees and chest area of the mobile suit. These new GM improvements never made it to the existing models most likely due to cost.
