Information: The Big Zam only appeared in movie three and an episode called
"Fear of the Mobile Armor Big Zam". It certainly caused
its fair share of havoc. Used as a "last resort", it trampled through the Federation's
forces until Amuro
showed up. The Big Zam is crippled by a few drawbacks in its
design. Its high-powered generators emit a huge amount of
thermal energy, so it has to be shut down after 20 minutes time to
cool off. Second, its I-Field barrier has two flaws.
The I-Field cannot defend against melee fighting or from weapons
like rockets (solid weapons). The main weapon (the large mega particle gun) is
located in the center of its chest. If this mobile armor
were to have been mass produced, even a small number of them could
have greatly harmed the Federation's forces. A mass
production model actually was planned, but the One Year War
ended before it could be released.
