Episode 10

Review by Paul McCartney Junior

The Federation fleet is engulfed in the GP02's tactical nuke. Two thirds of the Federation’s military strength is depleted. Keith and Kou stare at the light before Kou speeds off after Gato. Cima congratulates Gato from the Lil Marleen and begins her part of Operation Stardust. At Konpei Island, the survivors of the Federation panic while rescue attempts begin. Captain Synapse orders the Albion to change course for Konpei Island, wishing to help their comrades. Gato flies away from Konpei Island and ditches the tactical nuke launcher. Gato notices the left arm of the GP02 is unresponsive and Karius congratulates Gato over the radio. Gato continues onto the point where he is supposed to meet Karius and wonders if the mission was too easy. He gets a warning on his monitor which turns out to be several shots from the GP01. Kou flies in, firing and screaming at Gato. Gato realizes it’s the “same damn kid” that he fought on Earth. Gato decides he’d like a little extra to go with his victory and says he told Kou he had nothing to say to him (his end of the radio is still off). Gato sends an easily dodged volley of Vulcan’s and Kou returns with beams that don’t connect. Gato flies behind a wrecked Mousai and Kou freaks out. Gato throws an ignited beam saber to one side of the wreckage and Kou shoots at it. Gato charges Kou from behind but Kou parries him with a jutte. Kou again tries to talk to Gato.

At Konpei Island, a new leader has taken over the Federation army. He says that it is over now because even with a third of their forces, the Delaz fleet is still out gunned. He is told that the Albion is on the way. With disgust, he says “Oh now they come?!” and orders an officer to tell the Albion they’re not needed. He says that since the Albion is an autonomous ship, they should go do something...autonomous. Gato and Kou lay into each other and Kou loses his rifle. He tells Gato that the Albion crew has been living in shame since he took the GP02. Gato finally agrees to humor Kou and changes the frequency so Kou can hear him. He tells Kou that hatred is the root of all war. Kou tells Gato to quit talking down to him. Gato kicks the GP01 and says he stands supported by faith and that Kou is just another cog in the war machine. Gato fires vulcans at Kou and Kou dodges. They have a brief deadlock before breaking up and exchanging fire again. Another exchange of blows lands Kou staring at Gato’s falling saber. Kou ducks but Gato takes out his shield and then follows up with a stab to the head. Kou realizes that Gato’s left arm isn’t moving and swings, hitting Gato’s shield. Gato stabs through what is left of Kou’s shield and Kou takes off Gato’s left arm. The Albion has perfect audio to the grunts and yells of Kou and Gato while Nina asks herself why they fight like that.

Gato breaks off from Kou and Kou fires his vulcans at Gato. Gato quickly performs an about face and stabs at Kou. Kou puts his foot up and Gato’s saber runs right through it. Kou thrusts backwards and finds his main camera is toast. Kou gets a secondary camera online and Gato powers up his beam saber. Kou sets his saber as Keith nears the battle. Kou and Gato enter yet another deadlock and Gato’s saber penetrates the GP01's torso. Not one to quit, Kou uses his reverse thrusters and bakes the GP02. While Gato is blinded by the thrusters, Kou runs his own beam saber through the GP02's torso. Keith arrives on the scene and fires at 3 approaching Rick Doms lead by Karius. Kou and Gato both exit their cockpits and are face to face. Gato puts his arm around Kou and asks him to confirm if his name is Uraki. Kou acknowledges and Gato says he won’t forget it before floating into the hand of Karius’ Dom. Another explosion sends Kou flying into the safety of Keith’s GM Cannon II’s hand. Everyone watches as the embraced Gundams explode and Nina falls to her knees in despair. An operator tells her that Kou escaped safely but Nina keeps crying. Even Captain Synapse seems puzzled by her reaction.

If you remember our 2 colonies being moved as part of the Colony Reclamation Plan, a Federation Saberfish flies by and gets visual confirmation on the progress. One guy comments on Konpei Island’s chaos being distant because everything is so peaceful here. Seemingly on cue, the Saberfish rattles and they’re surrounded by Gelgoog Marines. The Albion crew takes a rest while Mora drags Kou into a pantry. She tells him that Nina is down and he is the only one who can comfort her. Our friends at the moving colonies cry for help but Cima has their communications jammed. One member of the Colony Corps attempts to reason with Cima but soon, a Gelgoog pilot has heard enough and destroys their transport. Kou finds Nina in a lobby and she seems happy to see him. She asks if it is all over but Kou says he has a feeling that it isn’t yet. Kou asks her what she will do now and she says she’ll go to Earth if she can be with Kou. Kou says that the way Gato acted, he thinks Stardust is still going on. Nina cuts him off and tells him to quit talking about Gato. Nina breaks down in front of Kou and leans on his chest. He puts his arms around her and after Nina talks a little more, they kiss.

A group of GMs reach the point where they lost contact with the Colony Corps. They see flashes near the Colonies and soon are taking a barrage from Cima’s fleet. The Gelgoogs put explosives onto 1 mirror on each colony. Cima’s fleet sends a barrage toward the mirrors of the colonies, destroying them simultaneously, leaving only 2 mirrors on each off balance colony. The new Federation leader finds out that they’ve been colony jacked and wonders what Delaz would do with 2 uninhabited colonies. Synapse calls Nina and Kou into his office to inform them on what he plans to do. To sum it up, despite Nina’s protests, he believes that Stardust is not over and will travel to the ship, La Vie En Rose to pick up the (shock and awe) Gundam Unit 3. Kou feels honored to do it and Nina’s protests fall on deaf ears when the helmsman runs in with an emergency report. He finds out about the colony jack and the removed mirrors. While the colonies rotate toward each other, Nina shows her theory using mugs. The colonies will spin toward each other and smack together, then bounce apart resulting in (more shock and awe) a colony drop on Luna. The helmsman runs off to warn Konpei Island and Kou tells Synapse to turn the ship around. Synapse insists they stay on course as they’d never make it in time. Cima cackles like a witch as the colonies collide. The regrouped Federation fleet proceeds at combat speed 1 toward the colonies. The Albion confirms that one colony is on a crash course with Luna but Synapse is bent on leaving it in the Federation’s hands.

Paul Jr’s Thoughts:
This series really picked up. The GP01 and GP02's fight was amazing and is definitely one of the best battles I’ve seen in Gundam. The Federation constantly gets slapped in the face by Delaz fleet and though their military might is more then enough, Delaz keeps outsmarting them. The famous Zeek busters, the Titans, really do seem like a necessity now rather than Jamitov waking up and saying “hey, I have a private army”. As for the GP03, we’ll find out how much that can really help. What is the Federation going to do to stop 2 colonies?
