Episode 13 (Final Episode)

Review by Paul McCartney Junior

Last episode, Cima Garahau assassinated Admiral Delaz in front of Gato. Gato rams the Neue Ziel’s arm into the Gwazine’s bridge. Cima barely escapes but everyone else on the bridge is killed. Bask Om tells Captain Synapse to defend the Solar System with the Cima Fleet. Synapse asks why they should work with Cima. Bask says that the Cima Fleet has been working with them for awhile and asks if Synapse is refusing his orders. Simone calls for Kou to return but Kou stares blankly as he realizes that Burning died for nothing. He adds Kelly’s death too and moves out. Gato speeds toward the Solar System, not wanting to let a damn mirror stop Stardust. Defending it is Cima fleet Gelgoogs and Mousais. Bask tells all ships to focus on the Neue Ziel to buy time for the Solar System. Cima and her men exit the Gwazine in their mobile suits, her in the Gerbera Tetra, the rejected GP04 given to her by Anaheim. She curses Delaz for ruining her gamble and blows the Gwazine up.

The Delaz remnants catch up with Gato and begin to assault the Solar System. The Delaz pilots are better trained but are well outnumbered. The control ship, a Columbus Class refit has the Solar System charged to 81% while Gato races across the mirrors looking for it. The Albion has now engaged Cima’s fleet and a Gelgoog Marine crash lands inside the Lil Marleen. Cima yells at the Lil Marline not to deploy the guide beacon unless they want to get killed when she picks up an energy reading above her. A blast from the Orchis’s main cannon barely misses Cima and strikes the Lil Marleen. The Lil Marleen blows up and Cima says she warned them. Kou speeds towards her while the Albion calls for him to return. Gato takes out a Salamis and continues looking for the Columbus. Bask orders the Solar System to fire and the mirrors begin heating up. Gato sees the Control ship and races toward it. He shoots it down and prays to god that the Solar System won’t fire. The Solar System fires but only enough to take out several Delaz ships and melt paint off the Colony. The colony barrels toward the Solar System and Bask is lucky to dodge it (he takes out another Salamis in the process). Our colony breaks through and Gato laughs as the universe realizes that Stardust is going to be successful. He flies inside of it as the battle damaged Albion flies toward the colony.

Nina steals the Albion’s Full Vernian core fighter and follows Gato. Mora tells Synapse but there isn’t much they can do when she’s left. Keith tries to follow her but realizes the Albion is more important at the moment. Cima battles Kou and a Gelgoog Marine tells her to pull back. She asks him where he suggests they return to before he is destroyed. Kou destroys a Mousai with a demolition chain and Cima comes down on him with her beam machine gun. Kou pivots and she sticks the Gerbera Tetra on the end of his gun, losing the mobile suit’s arms in the process. Her cockpit breaks open and her helmet visor cracks but Kou finishes her with said cannon, splitting the Gerbera at the waist. He snaps back from his rage and yells Gato’s name.

Inside the colony of fate, Gato sets down his pistol and programs the course at which the colony will fall. He is about to walk over and ignite the propellant when he notices Nina standing at the door behind him. He recognizes her but turns back to the panel to continue redirecting the colony. She pleads with him and tells him not to drop in on Jaburo. He says Jaburo isn’t the target. She cries and says she had forgotten him since he left her on Luna but he says their relationship was hollow at best and his only purpose is to resurrect Zeon. She sees his gun on the panel and takes it. Nina hyperventilates as she aims at Gato. As his hand pulls the lever to correct the colony’s course, a bullet pierces his side. Gato pulls the lever before collapsing. Nina screams and the camera pans to reveal Kou as the shooter. The colony’s propellant ignites, shaking the place and correcting its course. Nina hops to help Gato and tells Kou to stop fighting. She says her only wish was to stop them from fighting but it happened anyway. Gato rises to his feet and looks at Kou. As Kou prepares to end Gato, Nina cocks Gato’s gun and tells Kou to back off. She pulls Gato out of the room and locks the door behind them.

The AXIS fleet begins to recover the Delaz remnants. The Federation fleet reminds Hausler that they will attack the moment AXIS’s time is up. Nina bandages Gato’s wound and Gato asks why she did that. He asks Nina to forgive him and knocks her out. Gato takes off in the Neue Ziel and hands the core fighter’s cockpit, containing Nina, to Karius. He tells Karius to take her to safety. Kou exits the colony and sees Gato. Karius notices what is left of the Solar System is still active. Bask’s operator says it will only have about 25% of the payload but Bask is more concerned with revenge on the Neue Ziel. As Kou and Gato exchange blows, the Albion continues to fight but after the starboard gun is taken out, Synapse orders a well deserved withdraw. Gato jettisons his propellant tanks and takes out one of Kou’s arms. Gato grabs Kou’s free arm, then detaches his own while swinging behind Kou. He draws 4 more arms and hugs the Orchis. As an officer pleads with him, Bask fires the Solar System 2, engulfing part of his own fleet and the hugging mobile armors.

As Jaburo is being evacuated, a man drives up to Admiral Kowen and says it was cancelled, the colony is headed elsewhere. They look up to see the burning colony floating overhead. Kowen says “And with this blow, history is changed”. Kou wakes up in the Orchis and looks around for Gato. He breaks free in the Stamen and grabs his beam rifle. He sees a wrecked Salamis and fires randomly several times. The AXIS flagship calls to Gato as Nina weeps in the bridge. Hausler said Gato wanted her to live and says it is her choice to stay or go. Gato, leading what is left of his fleet heads toward AXIS. A Federation fleet blocks them and tells them to surrender. The AXIS fleet is notified that their time is up and Hausler orders all recovery operations to stop. Gato apparently didn’t care for the Feddie offer to surrender as his men engage. Gato takes out a Salamis before being struck multiple times. Gato flies into a Federation barrage and cuts his shoulder open on his seatbelt. With a final scream, he crashes the Neue Ziel into a Magellan class battleship, destroying the both of them. Nina flies out of the Gwazine in a Gattle.

Now the smoke is cleared and Kou has been court marshaled. He is sentenced to one year in prison. A broadcast of Bask Om fills the Earth sphere. He declares the formation of an elite corps of the Earth Federation, the Titans. O’Sullivan of Anaheim has been assassinated and Captain Synapse executed. The Albion crew dons their spiffy new Titan uniforms and Monsha, Bate and Adel get some shiny new GM Quels to pilot. On March 10th of 0084, all data on Admiral Kowen’s Gundam project was deleted. All charges against Kou were dropped as a result. He is assigned to North America’s Oakley base. He sees a Federation colored Gelgoog approaching him. It flips him the peace sign and he realizes the pilot is Keith. As Kou runs to keep up with the Gelgoog, he sees a jeep to his left. The driver is Mora and in the passenger seat is *drum rolls* Nina! They smile at each other.

Paul Jr’s Thoughts:
Well, bring on the manly tears; we’re done with another series. To keep anything like Stardust from happening again, the Titans are commissioned to protect the Earth. Best idea ever, huh? This last episode paid a lot of respect to Zeta.  As for the series, I do recommend watching it for yourself. The last half makes the first half look lame. Character development was really one sided, we could’ve used more Adel, Bate and Keith. By the end of the series, Adel and Bate hadn’t shown much more personality than a cardboard box. The action and animation is amazing. GP01 and GP02's last battle was breathtaking. The dubs kind of suck, especially Aguille Delaz’s. Now, quit listening to my opinions and watch it for yourself.
