This movie follows the Universal Century timeline and takes place after the second neo-zeon war. While it was originally suppose to be a 52 Episode series, Tomino opted to make it into a feature film instead. While most of the fanbase agrees that it's a decent film they also think that this would have been a far superior and better series.
