Welcome to Gundam Plus II, the successor to the original Gundam Plus site.
Episode 3 - The Changing World
We start off this week’s show where we left off as Graham Acre in his Flag is dueling with the Exia. Graham shows to be quite skilled as he’s able to dodge quite a few of Exia’s attacks. After losing his blade Graham starts to shoot at Setsuna but has his gun destroyed by (much to graham’s shock) a beam saber. Graham then turns to flee and we hit the opening credits.
We’re back and we get a quick update of what’s been happening and what Celestial Being has been up to. Back to his transport Graham and Katargai discuss that data they managed to gather on the Exia as well as they idea that Graham understands the pilot much better. Sounds a bit Zechs-ish to me.
Off to the JNN headquarters where the news department is scrambling to get anything on the Gundams to air. Off to the archive room and it seems that Anna is doing more research on Aeolia Schenberg. Turns out that Aeolia was one of the primary inventors of the solar power generator system. Hmmmm…very interesting.
Off to the AEU intelligence center and we learn that Aeolia’s entire family bloodline is longer with us but they’re still trying to find out Celestial Being’s means of finances.
Now it’s off to the Human Reform League’s orbital elevator and it seem the Gundam pilots have all assembled there. Tieria is not going to be involved in the mission and looks at Setsuna when he notes he has doubts about it. Could be trouble a Brewin with the Gundam Squad? Turns out they’re going to be using the orbital elevator as a means to get Tieria and the Virtue back into space. Makes sense if you’re trying to hide something as massive as the virtue. Allelujah then starts to discuss how it’s a weakness for them to have to return to the Ptolemaios in order to use the “solar furnace” but gets stopped by Setasuna because he’s discussing “secret information”. We see Tieria on the transport as he makes an interesting comment “I detest the surface”. As the pilots leave the station we see that Sergei Sirnov has arrived back to earth. He wishes to goto Sri-Lanka to see the damage the Gundam has done to their base there.
Off to Union and their Mobile Suit Warehouse and Development Headquarters and we see Graham and Intelligence Officer Billy Katargai(finally, his full name and rank) getting debriefed on what they’ve seen the past few episodes. Turns out they’re getting transferred into a new unit called the “anti-Gundam Defense force” under the leadership of Professor Raife Aifman.
Back to a city and we see Saji and Louise in a history class. Really, these two just talk about their classes and their relationship and we still don’t see why they’re getting so much screen time expect for Louise’s assets. I hope we get to see soon why this pair is getting so much screentime.
Off to a fancy restaurant/bar type place and we see Wang Liu enjoying a drink. Some guy (still don’t have his name but this isn't his first appearenc ) approaches and seems to be in the know about her and Celestial being’s missions/operations. Wang Lui’s bodyguard seems to be quite suspicious (perhaps Jealous?) of the new fellow till some other dude breaks him out of his thoughts. Ok, now this is getting silly with the amount of people being introduced this early. Unless we get a mass killing it’s going to get really confusing really quickly.
We’re off to the Human Reform League’s base on Sri lanka or what’s left of it and it seems they’ve salvaged the missile pod/unit used by the Kyrios. It appears that the missiles used are way beyond what any unit in the world can currently use and that the technology is cutting edge.
Back with Graham and Billy and it seems the Flag can be modified/upgraded to keep up with a Gundam.
Back to the HRL base and we begin to see the discussion of the particles of light the Gundam produce. All these cutting back and forth is a real pain for an episode reviewer.
And back again to Graham and Billy as Graham says if they can get a sample of the GN particle then the Flag can be fully upgrades to take on the Gundams. Professor Raife Aifman then shows up talks about Schenberg as being a wicked man of deceit from when he met him 70 years ago. It seems that Graham’s plan is to take a Gundam while the pilot is asleep as he’s convinced he can steal a Gundam. Graham then gets a message that the Gundam are on the move. Aifman stops Acre from leaving and says he’ll teach Graham how to blow away the Gundams and the Celestial Being’s claims.
It looks as though the Gundam are fighting in the disputed mineral mines of South Africa. After Lockton scares off the defending units the Kyrios flies in and bombards the entire area. Seems the Exia is being sent back to the Island to finish the job. Sergei asks for a Tieren.
As the Exia easily rips through the troops and their Tieren’s Sergei arrives in a Tieren that’s flight equipped. Kinda looks like a high mobility Leo from Gundam Wing. Sergei drops his gun and chooses to duel the Exia. After the Exia cuts off one of the Tieren’s arms, Sergei grams the Exia’s head with the other and starts to try and pull it’s head off, blinding Setusna at the same time by covering the cameras. Smart move. Setsuna then goes for the Beam saber, cuts too the arm and then the leg of the Tieren.
Off to space as we see the Virtue and Tieria heading to meet the Ptolemaios. Ha, I was right and those containers are for each Gundam. We watch the Virtue dock and they connect to the “solar furnace” to transfer power form the Gundam to the Ptolemaios. We then catch Tieria comment how he likes space better. How Char of him to say that.
We finish off the episode with Saji returning home and we discover his neighbor is none other than Setsuna. Now I guess we see Saji’s importance to the series. Saji then gets a call from Louise and we see a news report that the IRA and the Ireland government have signed a peace treaty and the last words from Saji are “The world is changing”.
Nimrod's thoughts – Another good episode. It seems there’s more to the story than we know. It also looks like Graham is on par with the Gundam Pilots skill wise. Should be interesting what they do to his Flag, perhaps it’s that black one we saw last week? Perhaps this will solve the question of the “missing unit”? Also, what’s the deal with Tieria? He seems quite anti-earth in his views. Perhaps we have another Char type person here and it coul lead to something, even a blowup bewteen him and Setsuna, down the line.
Definitely a show to keep watching.
