Welcome to Gundam Plus II, the successor to the original Gundam Plus site.

Episode 4 - Foreign Negotiation

Review by Nimrod

Welcome back to another exciting episode of Gundam 00.

We start in the briefing room of the Ptolemaios as the crew is watching a news conference by the Human Reform League who has declared Celestial Being as terrorists after the numerous attacks against their forces. This reaction seems to be all according to plan based on the comments from the various crew members. Off to Tokyo and we see Setsuna in his room reading a newspaper and watching the same broadcast as we hit the opening credits.

Off to a Middle Eastern looking city and it seems to be ravaged by terrorist attacks. Hey it’s that princess gal, Marina Ishamel. Bout time she makes an appearance. Marina and her assistant discuss the situation of their country and that if things continue as they do Celestial Being will appear.

Off to the island hideout for the Gundams and we see the Kyrios getting some minor repairs care of mini robots. That’s a neat thing to see because one does wonder how it’s done. Allelujah and Lockton discuss the IRA peace treaty and how it seems it was done to prevent the Gundams from forcing them to start. Makes sense.

Off to the command center of the Human Reform League and Sergi is giving one of his commanders his impressions of the Gundams after his encounter with the Exia in the last episode. It seems the Human Reform League is now ordering him to obtain a Gundam before the AEU and the Union does and Sergi is being placed in change of the forces to do it. He’s been assigned one member of his unit already – Ensign Soma Peries. She seems to be a part of the Super Soldier program that the HRL has. I dunno she doesn’t look like Captain America to me more like that chick from the 2nd half of Gravion. Sergi is shocked that there are super soldiers still around but his commander states that the higher ups think Soma will be their trump card against the Gundams. So are all sides going to create their own anti-gundam unit now? I guess we’ll see next week what the AEU does.

Back to the Tokyo zone and Setsuna is eating a hotdog and has a vision of the city and all the people around him getting destroyed in a terrorist attack. Looks like someone needs to see Dr.Phil. In a useless moment, Saji and Louise walk up to him and do nothing.

Off to the Union and we see they’ve upgraded a Flag Ms for Graham Acre. It also carries an experimental rifle so it can combat. Ha, it’s that blackish one too; I knew I was right about it. A pair of new members report in and are joining Graham’s Anti-Gundam Unit. Off to the Union’s White house and the president discusses with his assistant about the Celestial Being becoming the police for the world. Isn’t that what the Americans now see them as today? There’s your hidden message kids…

Back up to the Ptolemaios and Sumeragi is working with the computer trying to figure out where the next mission should take place. It seems that all 12 plans she’s come up with are of equal risk. If this was poker I’d say she should go “all in”. She’s interrupted by a message that the nation of Taribia has issued a statement to which she’s not surprised.

The nation of Taribia announces that is it leaving Union and is declaring it’s rebellion against the United States. That’s right people; it seems that AMERICA IS EVIL. First code Geass and Britain and now this and America…it seems the Japanese don’t like anyone these days. We follow through some scenes with various characters and their re-actions to Taribia’s announcement and their thoughts about what, if anything, will Celestial Being do about it. The scene ends with Sumeragi announce there’s a mission and to contact the Gundam Pilots.

We see the 3 Gundams on Earth get ready and launch into action. For those who care, Setsuna hid the Exia underwater. Meanwhile, we see Graham and his new Flag heading into the area where he plans on engaging one of the Gundams. I know he calls it the “Custom Flag” but I really hope he gives it a cool name soon. Custom flag just doesn’t work for me. We get an update as to the situation in Taribia care of the Ptolemaios crew as the Gundams arrive in the area. The scene ends with the various leaders of the various groups all wondering how Celestial Being will intervene in this situation.

And it turns out the Gundam begin to attack the Taribian forces and not the union forces. Turns out that as per their doctrine, Taribia is a war supporting country and therefore it must be eliminated. That’s an interesting way to see things and solve the problem. After seeing his troops slaughtered, the Taribian Prime Minister contacts the Union president and asks for his nation to rejoin Union. In doing such, the President orders the American and Union Mobile Suits into action to defend Taribia. And it is at this point the Gundam are ordered to withdraw, according to plan.

As they are withdrawing, the Ptolemaios spots a Flag in pursuit of the Exia. And now Graham has caught up to the Exia and it looks to be rematch time. The Flag proves to be faster than expected and even gets a hit on the Exia. Setsuna then heads into the water to escape where the Flag cannot follow, much to Graham’s disappointment. The episode ends with Marina Ishamel and her assistant discussing what happened and how in the end it worked out for all and her assistant telling Marina that if she doesn’t understand then she can’t rescue the nation of Azadeistan and then off to Saji and Anna’s home and they discuss why celestial Being did what they did as we see Setsuna in his apartment sleeping.

Nimrod's thoughts – It’s really starting to get hard to keep track of every one and everything they do. It’s also getting a tad dull that it seems to be the shows are structured in people talk, the Gundams do a mission and then more people talk. I hope things change soon or else people won’t stick with it. The Addition of Grahams’ custom unit is neat and one has to wonder if Sergei or Soma will get one. Be neat to see when the factions meet up when dealing with the Gundams.
