Welcome to Gundam Plus II, the successor to the original Gundam Plus site.

Episode 10 - Day of Fierce Battle

Review by Nimrod

Should be another quick recap since not a whole heck of a lot happened this week.

We start off with the Zalam Euba and Diva forces preparing to fend off the attack from the UE. It should be noted that before launching Milias tells Woolf to be careful, the usual kiss of death in Gundam. While everyone is launching, Vargas is down in the Hanger waiting for whatever new tool the Age builder is going to spit out to help them fight off the Ue as we hit the opening credits.

We’re back and as the battle begins it seems like the Zalam and Euba forces are getting wiped out but that’s part of the plan set by Grodek. It appears that the collation force (which is what I’ll refer to as the Zalam and Euba troops) are operating as a distraction while the Gundam and G-Exes finish them off with their superior firepower. Why not equip the collation forces with said rifles so they can also fight?  During the fight, a message comes in from the federation that they have no troops to assist and we learn the helmsman guy called them for assistance before assuring the crew he’s with them.

Back to the fight as now the super fast Ue mobile suit from last week is now deployed and starts tearing apart the collation forces along with causing them to fight among themselves. During this, Flit starts to get an odd feeling about that suit but doesn’t know what. He also witnesses a disabled Zalam suit get brutally destroyed by a UE mobile suit along with Dom Boyage seemingly getting killed by another suit as well. Shock, flit gets angry but the fast Ue unit begins to attack him and his Gundam can’t keeps up with it.
As the fight seems to be turning, we see that Boyage didn’t die – even though the Ue suit shot his unit through the chest. He then contacts Flit before flying what’s left of his suit towards the battleship in a kamikaze run. It turns out to be for naught as there isn’t any damage to the battleship. Flit begins to get angry but then Vagas contacts him and tells him that the new parts are ready – a new set of limbs for the Gundam much like the Titus. Flit has Vargas send them to him in space and while Woolf distracts the speedster UE, Flit does a combine with them and we see that this new set up is built for speed and it’s called the “Spallow”. Now, armed with the Spallow, Flit is able to deal with the speedster and cut it apart, forcing it to retreat and effectively ended the battle as the rest of the Ue backs off as well.

After the battle, we learn that the collation forces will meet the Diva at the next colony to make a strike at the believed base of the Ue. Flit then reports to Grodek the feeling he got and that he believes that Desil was the pilot of said speedster MS, which Grodek accepts and believes it may be so. Off to where ever Desil is as we see he’s all angry about losing to the Gundam and then a quick jump back to the Diva’s hanger bay where we learn the colony they are heading to is the only one without a Federation garrison. The episode ends with the Diva departing the colony for the next one.

Nimrod’s Thoughts – For an episode where the new Gundam part was being introduced, it seems to be a whole lot of nothing. Excusing the obvious logic gaps and the fact that red shirts seem to die left and right but no one cared till a name character did, they really made this battle quite dull. The least they could have done was shown if said MS was actually piloted by Desil or it was remotely controlled?
It’s really hard to watch this show these days.
