Episode 12 - The Rebels Set Sail

Review by Nimrod

Happy New Year and after a week off we’re back in the swing of thing with a quick recap of the last episode leading us right into the opening credits. New addition to them is an outline of a ship, Diva’s transformed mode perhaps?

We’re back and the crew is all moving and getting ready to quickly depart the colony as its clear the Federation is here for Grodek and now the crew that helped him escape the first time. In the hanger deck, Largan expresses his concern over fighting against fellow Federation soldiers but Woolf reminds him that he’s a rebel now and that he needs to get over it or get off the ship. Before the Diva could depart they see three Federation cruisers in front of the station waiting for them. It’s a standoff but Grodek orders the Diva to leave the station and it pulls out as he orders the mobile suits to prepare to launch.  Before they could leave, the Commander of the federation forcers, Stoller Guavaran, fires flash missiles at the Diva, blinding the crew and as the light lowers they find themselves surrounded by Geoaces, with a pair covering the mobile suit launch decks and one aiming its weapon at the bridge. Stoller opens a channel and offer the Diva a chance to surrender but Grodek refuses so Stoller orders the Geoaces to fire. Before they could, the Gundam appears and disarms the one threatening the bridge while the G-exes and largan’s Genoace disarm the one’s threatening them.

Then it gets crazier as while all this was happening the Federation launched all their mobile suits but then the ships from the Zalam and Euba appear to give covering fire. Grodek orders them to stop firing to preserve ammo. And just as it seems to get normal again the Ue appear and start attacking the Federation forces. I swear, this is like a badly written wrestling show with run-ins and what not. Who’s the head writer, Vince Russo?

Back to the show as the UE attack serves as the perfect escape for the Diva but Grodek won’t let it happens and orders the mobile suits to engage the UE units. During the fight, Flit starts to again display his newtype like abilities. The battle goes on until the federation forces join in on the fight and drive off the UE. In the end, Stoller decides that the Diva escaped during the confusion and wishes Grodek well in his mission.
In Grodek’s quarters, flit reports his Newtype like powers to which Grodek notes about a Federation program about people with abilities like Flit described calling “X-Rounders”. Couldn’t that have come up with a better name?

The episode ends back at the colony with Desil and his group arriving to take Yurin away for “evil” purposes based on Desil’s evil laugh.

Nimrod’s Thoughts – Short recap eh? Well, that’s because not a whole lot really happened so it’s a quick thing to recap. Maybe next week something actually important will happen.
