Welcome to Gundam Plus II, the successor to the original Gundam Plus site.

Episode 14 - A Flash of Sorrow

Review by Nimrod

We start off again with a summary that shows how we got to this point, mainly of the first battle and how the Diva took down the Ue battleship before beginning the assault on the Space fortress as he head into the opening credits. We’re back and it’s just us watching the allied fleet moving and fighting their way towards the base with Flit leading the charge. Inside the base, Yark makes a comment about how the Gundam has ruined their plans and that today it will be dealt with by Desil and his “weapon” as we see someone being strapped into another mobile suit.  Outside the battle continues until Flit hears Desil’s voice telling him he’s done well and Flit flies off from the battle leaving the rest of the forces to make their own way.

We then jump to seeing the Gundam in an area away from the main battle as it and Flit waits for Desil’s arrival. Desil then attacks, without warning as the Gundam must not have a working radar system, as he and Flit begin discussing their stances. Basically Desil enjoys fighting and killing and flit doesn’t as things don’t look too well for Flit in the beginning.

Back to Mardonna as he’s arrived back at his stardock which is mobile and must be quite fast as well to travel as far as it did in such a short amount of time. I suspect everyone in the AGE universe has faster than light travel but no one speaks of it. This has to be the best explanation. Anyway, he and his wife talk about how he’s not cut out to be a mobile suit pilot but that he’s best suited to help and support as they intend to be on standby to repair damaged allied mobile suits from the front.

Back to Flit and his epic battle with Desil as we see that Desil is more and more basically insane despite being a little kid. As the battle goes on Desil brings out another “weapon” in the form of a second mobile suit. We then learn, much to Flits horror, that it’s Yurin inside the cockpit of this new mobile suit.

We then head over to Largann, who still lives despite all signs that he should be dead by Gundam Law, who returns to the Diva for quick repairs and rearming. We then see he got hurt in the arm as well and Emily shows up with a first aid kit. Once more we get hit with the “Emily likes Flit” stuff as Largann gets assigned to be leader of a mobile suit unit when he heads back out.

Back to Flit as we see that Yurin’s mobile suit has bits much like the Qubeley as it’s now a two on one fight. We learn that she’s being used by desil only because she’s an X-rounder and that the mobile suit is actually under Desil’s control with Yurin serving as an amplifier. The Gundam begins to get shot up and damaged but Flit fights on as he tries to beat Desil and save Yurin. Of course, just as it seems Desil gets the killing blow, Yurin jumps in between and takes the hit and we get a sorta newtype Lalah type scene between her and Flit before her suit explodes and she dies.  Desil of course is laughing at the scene while Flit flies into a Kamille like rage and seems to super power his Gundam in the process and proceeds to completely take apart Desils mobile suit before just sending Desil off into space in the wreckage while Desil is in shock that he lost while Flit laments over the fact that he couldn’t save Yurin.

Back to the fight as the Diva moves closer to the space fortress to dock as the Gundam flies on and has its parts swapped out for the Titus form. As the Titus, Flit goes in as full power and destroys the guarding Ue units and then forces open the hanger door which destroys the Titus parts in the process as the Diva docks.
The episode ends with the bridge crew of the Diva armed with assault rifles as ready to try and take over the base as Flit heads back out in the original Gundam setup cursing the UE while Yark prepares to head out himself in a Big Zam looking unit.

Nimrod’s Thoughts – Well, the animation of this episode looked nice but that was about it. The rest was just paint by numbers for a Gundam series right down to the Lalah type scene with Yurin’s death. This series is really getting hard to watch so I hope that Gen2 will be an improvement since it should start after next week’s episode.
