Welcome to Gundam Plus II, the successor to the original Gundam Plus site.
Episode 5 - Demon Boy
A quick and dirty recap as there’s really not much to talk about with this real forgettable episode.
Once again we start off with a quick recap of last week’s episode surrounding Woolf’s introduction and then we’re taken to the opening credits.
We’re back and Dique is all excited as the Diva is headed for the colony and we get a quick rundown about it – it’s big, and has lots of things for people to do. While Dique is excited Flit and Emily are both down for different reasons. Flit is trying to deal with the fact that he’s now becoming more and more a soldier. Something that bothered him enough that he needed a bit of a pep talk from Woolf to realize what he wants to do. Emily on the other hand, while listening in on Woolf’s and Flits talk, is fretting and being all selfish because she doesn’t like what Flit is becoming and wants Flit to stop piloting the Gundam.
Over in the communications room as Grodek learns that once he gets to the colony he will be arrested for stealing the command of the Diva and face a court-martial over it. Once the message is over, Grodek plants a program into the Diva’s systems that knocks out all communications with the Diva and the federation. As he is leaving the room, Emily is walking down the corridor and spots him leaving and sees the trouble in the communication room. Meanwhile on the bridge we see the Diva arrive and dock at the colony as Grodek plays dumb with the communication issue.
Once they arrive at the colony, Dique, Emily and Flit go to explore but go their separate ways, much to Dique’s annoyance. Back on the Diva as the federation officers arrive to arrest Grodek but the captain is ready and presents the officer with some interesting information – that being that Grodek knows he’s on the take and will let it out when he’s put on trial. In the end the federation officer leaves, angered that Grodek got him. As they leave, Emily enters the room and Grodek notes that he was expecting her to arrive.
Back with Flit, as he’s travelling around the colony on a Segway (I guess they survived in the future) and as he’s lost in his thoughts he nearly runs over a young red headed boy. Avoiding the boy he crashes but the boy still skins his knee. Not knowing what else to do, Flit takes the boy, named Desil, back to the Diva for medical treatment. Despite his innocent acts, Desil gives that “evil” eye look at they travel back to the ship all the while being watched by a pair of UE mobile suits that somehow got into the colony without anyone knowing.
Back on the Diva as Emily and Grodek have their “talk” with Grodek explaining to her why he took command, to save the civilians of the colony, along with the fact that what he’s doing is leading to them being able to stop the UE and that he’s got a plan to make an attack against the Ue and will need to the Gundam, and Flit, in order to do it. That doesn’t set well with Emily as in her world she gets what she wants so she called Grodek selfish and leaves. Pot-Kettle-black you selfish bitch.
Over with flit that somehow managed to sneak Desil aboard without much effort and patched him off before giving him a quick tour of the ship leading him to see the Gundam. Umm…isn’t that top secret? At that point the Ue units attack or are spotted by the colony defenses – it’s kinda not explained, at Desil steals Flit’s key and takes the Gundam out to fight the UE units. Annoyed at this, Flit takes the one Genoace in pursuit while Woolf also joins in as they race to stop Desil in the Gundam. Turns out that Desil is a decent pilot and manages to defeat one of the units before noting he’s bored and heads back to the Diva, much to Flit’s further annoyance. Back on the ship Desil notes he enjoyed meeting him but hopes Flit will be more interesting the next time before giving back the Gundam key and vanishing from the ship. We then see Desil on the colony and he’s met by some robed guys while one bugs him about leaving since he’s a part of “EDEN”. Desil notes he was bored and wanted to meet Flit and see the Gundam but was disappointed by both.
The episode ends with Flit looking at the Gundam and wondering how he can get stronger while recalling that Desil was using the same abilities that Flit used when he was with Yurin. All the while, Emily is looking on and fretting over Flit and her growing farther apart.
Nimrod’s Thoughts – Not the most interesting of episodes this week despite the fact that we seem to have been introduced to an enemy pilot or at least someone that’s not out to help Flit in the form of Desil. Grodek continues to move along in his own plans along with Emily getting more and more annoying. I certainly hope next week’s offering is better than this pile of trash.
