Welcome to Gundam Plus II, the successor to the original Gundam Plus site.
Episode 12 - It’s My Best Work
When we last left our heroes, Gundam X Divider had come to support the Airmaster and Leopard. Garrod begins running the GX toward the Frost brothers before tripping. The Frost brother’s fire and move toward Garrod. The ends of GX’s new shield fold and thrust the GX forward. He goes between the Frost brothers, breaking their formation. They regroup and are pinned down by Garrod’s new gun. Shagia tries to fly away but receives a shot from Garrod’s gun dangerously close to the cockpit. The Airmaster and Leopard begin firing on the Frosts as well (funny because last episode, Roybea complains of being out of ammo). The Frost brothers agree to retreat. Olba acts on impulse and decides to turn around and fire, to make it look like they hadn’t lost. Sam shouts to Garrod to use the Harmonica Cannon. Garrod’s shield opens up and fires a beam barrage at Olba. Shagia jumps in front of Olba and takes the shots, destroying his cockpit and nearly killing him. Ashtaron carries the damaged Virsago away.
Garrod moves away from the Freeden momentarily before deciding not to save Tifa now. He says he has to become stronger. In Fort Severn, Carris looks up at a window and thinks he sees Tifa but she disappears. Tifa is sent through an MRI as the mayor marvels at what he sees. Garrod is in the GX’s cockpit, fighting a simulation of the bits. He constantly loses. On the Frosts’ plane, Olba has Shagia under intensive care. Olba vows to defeat the Freeden with his own hands. Tonya and Sarah have met in a diner in Fort Severn and find out they’re being labeled as enemies of the people for ‘mistreating’ Tifa. Ennil El drives to city hall while Garrod fails another simulation. In the entertainment room, Wits is complaining about wasted effort so Roy tells him to quit bitching. Garrod is at the bar telling himself he needs more power before displaying his angst by crushing the soda can. After he receives a carbonated shower to the face, he says out loud that he wants more power.
Garrod sees the Fort Severn newspaper article about them being evil vultures that captured an innocent little girl. He crushes it and takes off in the jeep. The Doctor says Garrod is only 15 and half a child. Jamil says that he is still half adult. At Fort Severn’s city hall, Ennil El has requested a meeting with the mayor. She has a picture sent along. When the mayor sees it, he brings her in immediately. Garrod sneaks into the building where Carris and Tifa are on the bottom of a supply truck. Ennil enters the mayor’s office and asks if he’s seen the picture. He asks what she wants. As Garrod is crawling through the ventilation system, Ennil and the mayor sit down. Ennil tells him the photo is not a threat. It’s a picture of the mayor next to another man with red hair and a Bertigo behind them. He recognizes a few features and she tells him that General Nada El of the space revolution army is her father. She calls the mayor ‘Professor’ and he asks if her father is dead. She tells him both he parents passed away. Her father was discovered to be a former revolutionary General and was murdered by civilians. Professor asks what he can do for her and she demands the pilot of the GX-9900. She thanks him and offers to help.
In her room, Tifa senses something and runs to the door. Carris opens the door and asks if she sensed her desperate friend as well. Ennil and Professor Dorat take an elevator down to where the Patouria lies. Garrod of course is laying on top of that elevator. They talk about ‘Operation Lilac’ where 5 Bertigos and the Patouria were to be dropped to earth. Unfortunately, they were shot down in atmosphere and only one survived. They would’ve infiltrated the military and destroyed it. Professor Dora tells her though he professes peace to Carris and the citizens; his true intention is to punish the people of earth. The professor wonders who should pilot it, Tifa or Carris and then Ennil asks if Carris is his work. He says Carris is his best work. Carris is an artificial newtype with very few flaws. He says many others died during the process. Garrod gets up to leave but knocks over a stone, alarming Ennil and Dora.
Dora draws his gun as him and Ennil give chase to Garrod. Ennil tells Dora that Garrod is the GX’s pilot. Before Wits and Roybea can leave for Fort Severn, a large heat source is detected approaching the Freeden. Olba and Ashtaron have clearly come back for revenge. Wits and Roybea prepare to engage the Ashtaron. Two guards see a flash grenade thrown their way before they’re blinded and knocked out by Garrod. Garrod enters Tifa’s room to find Carris holding her at gunpoint. Garrod tells Carris what he heard from Dora and Ennil. Carris says he already knows. He even asked professor Dorat to make him a newtype so he could be unique. He says newtypes can’t come about naturally. Tifa says he’s wrong, that she is a newtype. Carris lowers his gun and Garrod rushes to disarm him. A shot near Garrod’s foot stops him. Professor Dorat and Ennil El enter the room. We get another cliffhanger ending as Garrod is staring down the barrel of a scorned Ennil’s gun.
Paul Jr’s thoughts:
Yet another episode full of twists and suspense. Carris isn’t a real newtype. Mayor Nomoa was a Space Revolutionary Scientist. Now he’s bent on revenge. Even Ennil found a reason for being semi-psychotic. With Carris being in disbelief of a real newtype, will he see the light and join the Freeden? Oh yeah, what will Garrod do, now that he’s staring down a gun yet again? Without the GX, can the Airmaster and Leopard stop Olba’s rampage?
