Welcome to Gundam Plus II, the successor to the original Gundam Plus site.
Episode 19 - I feel like I'm dreaming
Where we last left off, Lucille was acting through Tifa’s body and used her newtype abilities to render all the mobile suits useless. Shortly after, she stops and the suits are operational again. Tifa’s body falls unconscious and Garrod uses this lull in the action to damage the Orc submarine. The submarine has no option but to surface and is covered by Ashtaron. Roybea chases a Daughtseat 3 out of the water and Wits shoots it. As Olba and Garrod exchange shots, Shagia tells Olba to fall back because they need the flash system he found. Olba helps Marcus Guy to Shagia’s aircraft carrier. Garrod wants to pursue but is reminded by Wits that his home on the Freeden will be toast it he does. Both ships stop to repair but head east to the sea of Lorelei. In the Freeden’s infirmary, Jamil tells the crew that Lucille was his superior and adds that she was also a friend. Roybea asks if she was a newtype and Jamil nods. We see the photo of Jamil and Lucille and Jamil explains the flash system. It allowed Gundams to fight alongside their own set of remote bits that were coordinated by the pilot’s newtype ability. Lucille was Jamil’s instructor.
Garrod jumps at the request to help Lucille as Tifa awakens. Lucille promises she’ll let Tifa go once her body is out of enemy hands. Shagia is studying the flash system as Olba looks at Lucille’s body. Lucille says she doesn’t want to be used anymore. Garrod again says they should rescue Lucille and receives a unanimous nod. Without delay, the Freeden pursues the Marcus gang. Jamil is absent from the commander’s chair so Sarah goes to check on him. As Garrod overhears, Sarah asks what his relation to Lucille was. Jamil says he already told her but Sarah insists there is more than that. He says he is afraid of losing a precious memory and Sarah says she understands. As the mechanics are busily readying the Gundam team, Garrod hands over the GX’s control to Jamil.
Sarah walks into the entertainment room and finds Roybea playing pool. She tells him he can’t use the room while there is an operation going on. He tells her he is only gathering his thoughts but she tells him to get out. Roybea snaps and yells “Shut up!” and quickly apologizes. He tells her he missed his girlfriend and that she passed away recently. He then tells Sarah that she should just let Jamil see Lucille. The Gundam team launches and Garrod enters the bridge. The normal bridge crew is shocked to see Garrod there and realizes that Jamil is piloting the GX. Some Daughtseat 3s show up to engage the Gundam team. Jamil orders Roybea and Wits to back up his attack on the enemy ship. Olba is busy trying to remove the Flash system from Lucille’s capsule when another ship attacks the Freeden.
A large aircraft carrier launches flyer daughtress' which fill the sky. Wits and Roybea valiantly fight the swarm of daughtress’ as Jamil goes to rescue Lucille. Garrod orders the Freeden to charge toward the Orc submarine and Sarah tells everyone to be ready to abandon ship. Tifa, who has entered the bridge, says that Jamil has found some good friends. Lucille talks to Jamil telepathically and wants to use the Flash System. Jamil insists that he can’t but Lucille offers to help. Lucille tells him to remember the old days and how they linked then. What appears to be an apparition of Lucille places her hands around Jamil’s and they activate the Flash system. The GX bits that were on the Orc submarine awaken and blast their way out.
As the GX Bits engage the daughtress flyers, the Marcus Guy gang abandons ship. The GX bits overwhelm the Daughtress Flyers and force the aircraft carrier to retreat. As Shagia and Olba are falling back, Olba kills Marcus Guy on his life boat to maintain silence of the G Bits. Lucille tells Jamil to finish it and Jamil destroys the GX Bits. As the sun is setting, the Freeden crew is in the Orc submarine, looking at Lucille’s body. Lucille, still speaking through Tifa, tells him that she can die happily now that she’s seen Jamil as an adult. Tifa’s eyes close and she falls unconsciously into Jamil’s arms. Jamil agrees to put Lucille back under the sea according to her wishes. As they drop a casket into the water, Wits wonders if she was happy. Tifa says that while she was possessed, she felt warm and content. Sarah tries to talk to Jamil but he says he’d rather be alone. She agrees and leaves him.
Paul Jr’s Thoughts:
What is this? Character development for a supporting role? I thought they didn’t do that anymore! Not only did every character get to contribute, the Freeden scored a solid victory by defeating the Frosts and keeping the GX bits and Lucille out of their hands. Sarah seems to have an admiration for Jamil and it shows in her leadership as the acting captain. Okay Freeden crew, where to next?
