Episode 23 - My dream is real

Review by Paul McCartney Junior

The Freeden crew is now being held up at Zonda Epta by the New Federation army. Groups of mechanics who are being taken away in an armored car yell to Sam to come save them. Tifa grabs Garrod by the hand and he assures her everything will be alright. General Izmat apologizes for interrupting but says he’ll be taking Tifa. Shagia Frost grabs her by the arm. Garrod goes to punch him but is tripped by Olba. Olba points a gun at Garrod and Garrod slowly rises to his feet. Jamil tells him not to lay a hand on his men and Olba turns the gun on Jamil. Olba reminds Jamil who is in position to be giving orders. Jamil and Tifa are taken away with the Frosts as Izmat thanks Kadoc. Kadoc says all he did was fail to die again. Garrod asks Kadoc how if feels to get his long awaited revenge. He asks Kadoc if he feels better and as he begins to taunt Kadoc’s silence, he receives Kadoc’s answer via a punch to the face. Garrod flies and Wits moves to help him but two guards cock their guns in response. Garrod gets back to his feet and gives a speech. He says adults are nothing more than people who lay troubles on younger people that happened well before they were born. Kadoc picks him up by the collar and holds his struggling body for awhile. Kadoc lets him down and remains silent.

General Izmat has a teleconference with his officer committee and asks for permission to contact the newtype research lab. He is told no and is informed that the highest command decided against it. Izmat tells Shagia and Olba what the decision was and asks them to be careful. In their cell, who is left of the Freeden crew begins to plan their escape. Apparently when Jamil said “I might not live to see tomorrow’s sun” he meant that they will escape at sunset the next night. Only bridge members knew that. The Doctor tells Ennil the same news and she asks why he would do that. He says it’s his duty to tell his patient. While Garrod crawls through the ventilation shaft to make a map, Jamil and Tifa are being treated to dinner by General Izmat. Izmat asks Jamil why he won’t eat. Jamil says that the new Federation wants to abuse the power of newtypes even after they damn near destroyed the world. Izmat tells him that he is the same as Jamil. They are from the same generation and can’t escape the word ‘newtype’. Kadoc enters and tells them to be more lighthearted around Tifa. He tells this joke:

A poor man says to a rich man, “You can’t understand the pain of the poor” and the rich man says “You can’t understand the pain of the rich”

Kadoc laughs and Jamil says he gathers that both the man with power and the man trying to take advantage of the power are fools. Kadoc says he doesn’t know but what he does know is that Tifa is bored. He drinks Tifa’s coffee and tells her she has a nice smile before retreating back to his room to look at the picture Tifa made for him. Garrod returns from the ventilation shaft and shows everyone the new plan. They’re going to raid the armory first before battling to the hangar to get the Gundams. Garrod says the only problem is whether or not the GX’s controller will be in. Tonya says it’s a do or die situation. Wits asks if she is scared and she says a little. Wits promises to protect her and blushes. Sarah taps Roybea on the shoulder and says that they should do their best as well. Sam and Tonya have a little standoff as to whether Ennil is on their side.

Ennil sneaks out of the infirmary and reports the plan to escape to General Izmat. He asks for the full story in detail but Ennil makes him first promise to release Tonya. Izmat tells the Frost Brothers about the plan to escape but tells them to wait for the Freeden crew to make their move. Kadoc, in his room, thinks about what Garrod said. He asks himself, “How can I be satisfied?” and goes into Tifa’s room. He sees Tifa crying and asks her why. She says she saw a dream where she will no longer see her friends. She then tells him her dream is real. Then she goes on to say that she will no longer see him either. Kadoc then tells her the truth about the Colony Jamil destroyed. Everyone on it, including Kadoc’s wife and daughter were already dead when the Revolutionary Army took it over. To him, blaming Jamil and Newtypes was easier than admitting what happened. Tifa says she already knew. Jamil did as well.

A few knocked out guards are seen as the Freeden team locks and loads. They sprint down the hallway to find an empty hangar. Wits wants to blame Garrod but Sam notices tire tracks. As Sarah wonders how they got found out, an alarm goes off. As the Doctor is being lead from the infirmary, Ennil is told to go with him. In no time, the Freeden crew is in a gunfight in a narrow hall. Garrod realizes it’s going nowhere and tells Wits to cover him. Garrod runs down another hall. Wits throws a grenade at their enemies. Roybea takes an ATP and blows a shutter door away. Kadoc heads to an elevator and locks and loads his own gun. A guard notices a soda can rolling and goes to investigate. Garrod grabs the man by the collar, making him drop his gun. He asks where Jamil and Tifa are and negotiates with the man with a shot dangerously close to his ear. The guard points to an elevator leading to the dock and says they’re on a ship.

Garrod is soon sprinting to keep pace with the ship. He yells for Tifa and she looks but can’t do anything. The Frosts in their Gundams laugh at his attempt to bid her farewell and fire at him. He dodges Virsago and Ashtaron’s shots and falls on to a floating crate. Kadoc joins him and at gunpoint asks him if he wants to change the future. He says Tifa told him a future where she’ll no longer see Garrod. Then he says that the Gundam is on the escaping ship and asks if he is in or out. Soon they are in a patrol boat, dodging shots from the Virsago and Ashtaron who are riding on the boat. Olba flies off to attack the boat. Garrod grapples toward the container the Gundams are in and Kadoc ditches the boat, leaving a grenade for Olba. Shagia tells Olba to get back but is too late as the Ashtaron eats the payload of the grenade. As Garrod and Kadoc fly toward the Gundam container, Shagia and Olba cut the wire tying it to a boat. Olba and Shagia fire on the container, causing it to flood and submerge for the most part. Kadoc says he knows for sure that the Double X is on Izmat’s ship.

Paul Jr’s thoughts:
This episode left us with a nice cliffhanger. Kadoc wants to help Tifa now. Ennil chose to be a bitch and take revenge on Garrod. We’re left to wonder the Freeden crew’s status. Does Kadoc or Garrod have a plan to catch the ship? What is going to come of Tifa and Jamil?
