Episode 27 - it's a good tiem for goodbye

Review by Paul McCartney Junior

Since our last episode, Roybea went home with the pianist he met at the bar. He says he needs some time off and doesn’t like his surroundings. She agrees and says that since the New Federation took over the area, the civilians have been treated badly. She says that sometimes people need to fight for their freedom but Roybea hushes her and asks her name. Yurina is her name and she goes outside to get the newspaper and pulls out another sheet from it before nodding to the delivery man. Northernbell’s fall brings panic to Estard as the alliance between Estard and Gastar is now meaningless. Northernbell had been the mediator between the two ethnically opposed countries and Estard now fears another war of ethnic cleansing will come their way. Doctor Techs explains this to the helmsman and Sam using a cup of coffee, a cup of milk and an ashtray as visual aids. Tonya and Tifa enter the restaurant and ask where Garrod and Wits are. Sam tells them that the boys are sleeping like logs in their rooms. Tonya suggests that she and Tifa wake them up but Doctor Techs tells her to let them sleep.

In the Freeden’s hangar, Jamil looks at the GX and asks if the both of them can ever escape the curse called war. Tonya enters her hotel room, wanting to complain to Sarah. She finds Sarah looking out the balcony, wearing a depressed face. Tonya asks what is bothering her and she says she is worried about Roybea. She feels alone without Jamil or Roybea around. Ennil El, still on the boat, approaches Saint’s Island. It has been taken over by the New Federation as well. She asks where Miles is and the mobile suit saleswoman says he was executed with all the other officials. Ennil chokes back tears as the woman asks her if she’d like a mobile suit.

Tifa enters Garrod’s room and finds him out cold in his bed. She says she still feels far apart from him. She folds up Garrod’s clothes which were strewn about the floor and leaves. Wits sees her as she leaves and asks if Garrod woke up yet but she runs off. Meanwhile, in a forest near Estard, several Daughtresses are taken down by the mobile suit, Britoya. Britoya appears to be able to karate chop from a distance. The Britoya turns the forest into stumps as the Frost brothers look on with smiles. Olba wonders how to report the shredded Daughtresses but Shagia is confident that there should be no issue. The Britoya’s pilot, Dwight Langraff, exits his mobile suit and picks up a dog. While he is petting it, the Frosts drive up. As he continues to nuzzle the dog, the Frosts tell him that if he takes down the Double X, he’ll be promoted 2 ranks. He says he understands and that the dog must be lost. Shagia says he is sorry to hear that.

Estard’s leaders are in a hot debate over whether to surrender or die. Willis asks for more time but it is not granted as Gastar and the New Federation mobilize to take the country. The close associate of Prince Willis sees Willis is incapable of deciding and uses his authority to decide to surrender. The next morning however, General Lee and only a handful of mobile suits set out, Estard’s flag in hand, to fight to their last breaths. Wits and Garrod quickly depart to help after hearing the news.

On a New Federation carrier, Shagia and Olba wish Lieutenant Dwight good luck in his fight with the Double X. As Dwight enters the Britoya, he closes his eyes and asks ‘himself’ to take over. Thing about Lieutenant Dwight is he has 2 personalities. One is the kind and gentle young man who wanted to help the lost dog. The other is a raging berserker who would attack his own allies. As his other personality takes over, he says ‘let’s start hunting’ and launches. As the Britoya files toward the Double X and Airmaster, it ditches its two thrusters, each pegging a Gundam. Wits regains his balance and catches Garrod. They land in a forest and are greeted by the Britoya. The Britoya pins them down with barrage of missiles as they hope General Lee is slow. As Willis panics over the General’s decision, a politician enters the room with a letter from the General. It says that his own display of force is not an official order but the General’s own mutiny. The same message was also sent to the New Federation as reality sets in that he is marching to his own death.

A karate chop from the Britoya sends a minced tree at Garrod. Garrod moves but soon finds his gun severed by the same technique. Wits tries to escape but receives a chop and loses an arm. Garrod catches it and looks with disgust. General Lee enters Gastar as Wits takes a missile near his cockpit. Garrod supports Wits’ recovery and they realize that fast moving wires are giving the Britoya this magical karate chop. Garrod asks Wits to act as bait for him. Wits protests but a few missiles wins the argument for Garrod. Airmaster charges the Britoya and Garrod fires over its shoulder, hitting Britoya’s missile. Wits takes advantage of the blinded pilot and delivers the final shot to Britoya’s chest.

As Dwight plummets, he reverts to his kinder personality and tells the other he doesn’t blame him. Just before he crashes and explodes, he wonders if that dog ever made it home. Garrod and Wits speed on their way as Shagia and Olba lament the ineffectiveness of Dwight. When Wits and Garrod near the General, he is standing alone in a damaged Pylon. He tells them to go away and says he waited for this moment. He raises the Pylons arms and allows two Daughtresses to stab it. With the beam sabers still impaling him, he beheads one Daughtress and crushes another. He raises the Estard flag and says “long may my people prosper!” before the Pylon explodes and crashes to the ground. As Garrod and Wits look on with shock, the paperboy from earlier tells Yurina it is time to stand against the New Federation. He asks if she still has ‘him’ and we’re lead to believe that is referring to Roybea, who is on her couch sleeping with a book over his face. With no other options in sight, close associate to Prince Willis, Rooks Hollowmark, declares Estard’s unconditional surrender to the New Federation.

Paul Jr’s Thoughts:
Seems like every time something good happens to the Freeden, something bad has to top it. With Estard defeated, it would seem they are out of places to turn to. Losing the General was enough of a blow to Wits and Garrod but what does Yurina have in mind for Roybea? And what will the Freeden do now?
