Welcome to Gundam Plus II, the successor to the original Gundam Plus site.
Episode 3 - My Mount is Fierce
Today’s events begin as we left them. Tifa is screaming for no apparent reason and in a moment, faints. The Freeden moves toward Gundam X as Jamil assures the crew that the GX cannot fire. Jamil grapples onto the X and opens the cockpit. At gunpoint, Garrod surrenders. The GX along with Garrod and Tifa are brought onboard the Freeden. Tifa is rushed to a bed as a few doctors follow while the Airmaster and Leopard pilots, Wits and Roybea respectively, are holding Garrod. Jamil explains to Garrod that Tifa has the ability to read minds and that she sensed the terror of all those vulture pilots who were baked by the Satellite System. Any more and Tifa would’ve died but for now, Tifa would be asleep for a few days. Garrod accuses Jamil of causing Tifa’s pain and tries to punch him, only to be the recipient of Jamil’s fist. Jamil has Garrod put in a cell.
Shortly after, the alternative company’s headquarters are being attacked by Shagia Frost’s Gundam Virsago. The Virsago removes the heads of a few Daughtresses’ with its claws and drives a beam saber into the shoulder of one. He asks if this is the Alternative Company. After withdrawing his saber from the stuck Daughtress, he says he was hoping they’d hire him. With the Virsago parked outside, Shagia goes in to talk to the owner, Von Alternative. He says he can get Tifa back and Von says he is well informed before pulling a gun on Shagia. Shagia, who has been examining a chess piece, whips it at Von’s hand, causing him to drop the gun. Von says “The Queen is captured and a Knight shows up”. Shagia retorts “My mount is fierce”.
We’re taken back to the Freeden where Garrod is in a cell. He produces a lock pick from his hair and begins to work on the door. The guard outside hears this but Garrod blows some powder at him, causing him to go unconscious. Garrod steps out of the cell but in a minute is seen back on his bed by the guard who has regained his consciousness. A doctor walks into Tifa’s room where she is fast asleep. He wonders what idiot put flowers there and begins to remove them but Jamil stops him. Suddenly there are a few explosions outside and Sala wonders if they’ve been discovered. Jamil tells her no and points out a small plane that is running away from a group of Vultures. Gundams Airmaster and Leopard are launched as Jamil brings Garrod to the bridge to watch what was happening. He tells Garrod to watch closely and says that Roy and Wits are professionals.
Airmaster and Leopard leap into action and readily hand it to the vultures. Gundam Leopard saves the downed plane from a Jenice by putting holes in the cockpit. Leopard then jumps onto the Vulture ship and after a fusillade of missiles and Gatling rounds, the ship sends out an orange flare, meaning they surrender. A brief explanation of the purpose of the flare is given as it is how Vultures communicate. This color meant they did not want to fight further and completely surrendered. The plane’s pilot thanks Captain Jamil and introduces himself as Olba Frost. He asks how he can repay the kind Captain and Roy suggests he work on the ship and put in a few free hours. Olba readily agrees as Tonya rushes to introduce herself. At the Alternative Company, Shagia and Von are talking about chess when Shagia mentions that his brother must be close to Tifa by now. “The knight is a powerful piece”, says Von. Shagia tells Von that his little brother is cute and very good at chess.
Garrod breaks out of his cell yet another time. He runs outside toward the lake and picks flowers when Jamil comes from behind and surprises him. Jamil says he knew it was Garrod who left the flowers in Tifa’s room and asks why he didn’t escape. Garrod says he won’t leave without Tifa and Jamil says it’s not possible. While they were outside, Olba enters Tifa’s room wielding a hypodermic gun with some white fluid in its chamber. Olba says he loves the captured princess, loves her enough to kill her before injecting the white fluid into her neck.
Paul Jr’s thoughts:
This episode toned down the intensity a bit. Jamil agrees that Tifa is a newtype. That Gundam Virsago looked much more evil than the Leopard or Airmaster and there’s no way Shagia and Olba can have something good planned for Tifa. Now what was that white liquid that Olba injected into Tifa? Will she really be killed off so early?
