Episode 30 - I feel like i may never see you again...
A group of New Federation officers and Lord Bloodman are in a meeting hall, seated at an oval shaped table. He asks why they are having trouble in pacifying North America. One officer tells him that the mobile suit pilots and vultures have allied against them. A different officer says they should make an announcement now but another wants to capture America first. Lord Bloodman tells them to wait altogether because they will gain power depending on how they make this announcement.
Miles away from corrupt politicians, the Freeden’s bridge members speculate on what a newtype research lab is like. Jamil himself doesn’t know either. In the hangar, Sam shows off the new Leopard Destroyer. Wits and Roybea look on the improved Leopard while Sam says he’ll show it to Garrod. Before he can run off, Wits grabs his collar and tells him to wait. As for Garrod, he is in Tifa’s room, holding an awkward pose, while Tifa draws them together on her canvas. Somewhere else, Ennil El is taken into a bar by a tall blonde man. She sees all the people and asks if those are her comrades. The man says there are more.
The Frost brothers are in their Gundams, Shagia en route to the Newtype lab and Olba on his way to a New Federation base. Shagia makes his way inside and is soon talking to Chief Karen. She drops a clipboard and complains that they can only get Type F’s. She apologizes to Shagia because he is a type F as well. He says he doesn’t mind and that all him and Olba can do is stick together. She says she was surprised to find out that the ones from the General Staff Office were Shagia and Olba. She asks where Olba is and Shagia says he is well underway on a different mission. Olba is indeed on another mission. At the New Federation base, he requested a private talk with the commanders there. He says he has important information on the Newtype Research lab.
Chief Karen turns around in shock after Shagia tells here that Tifa Adil is coming. Shagia reminds her that he is a former secret service agent and that Tifa could be their last hope to use the Flash System. He asks her to welcome the Freeden in and keep it occupied while the New Federation surrounds the place. She asks if the New Federation will send reinforcements and he says Olba is already negotiating that. The officers speaking to Olba react in shock to hear that the Newtype Research facility is trying to make contact with the Freeden. Olba says they must be looking to lead a coup d'etat on the New Federation. He reminds the officers that the facility is funded by a private company and asks them to agree to the plan. As Shagia flies away, the same blonde man who talked to Ennil is in a helicopter. He says to a man with him that he has seen a lot of Gundam type mobile suits lately. As the helicopter enters the facility, he says it might be prime time to take action.
Garrod lies awake in his bed when he hears a knock on the door. Tifa asks if she can come in. She has tears in her eyes and sits on Garrod’s bed. She says she had a premonition that she may never see Garrod again. He reminds her that they’ve been separated many times but always end up reunited. He says he will always be with her but can’t finish his thought. She perks up and smiles at him. As she is leaving, he tells her she can come again. He asks when she will finish that picture she says it will be a little longer and says goodnight. She turns to leave and Garrod goes back in his room. As Tifa makes it around the corner, Garrod looks back out and Tifa turns around. She says she’ll see him tomorrow.
The Newtype Research lab has an alarm going off as the Freeden approaches. She opens a communication line as the Freeden stops. She introduces herself as Karen Rudd and asks for Jamil Neet. Jamil asks if they’ve met and she says all Newtype Researchers know of him. She asks what he wants and he says he only wants to talk. She asks to meet him face to face and she agrees. She offers to lead the ship inside but he says that the ship will stay and only he will go. Tonya says it could be a trap and Jamil tells them to use their judgment to defend the ship.
Shagia and Olba lead a swarm of Valiants toward the Newtype Lab. Shagia asks Olba if he is ready. Olba says that they will finally destroy everything in their way. Jamil and Karen are soon at a coffee table. She says that Newtypes have tremendous potential on a battlefield. Jamil says newtypes are not just tools of war. She says that as a scientist, she can’t comment on mentality. He says that the Federation saw Newtypes as the future but treated them the opposite way. Because of that, the Earth became lawless and desolate. She tells him that war gave birth to newtypes and that is why they will create the future. He says that is why there is no newtype in him. He says he could see the future once too but only if people believe in themselves. She tells him he is very idealistic but asks what he will do if they won’t quit using newtypes. He says he’ll destroy the place. She tells him he’s out of luck and should be the one to surrender.
Before Jamil can say ‘What?’ the Freeden is taking heavy fire from the Valiants. Sarah orders the Gundams out and Garrod and Wits hit the Valiants head on. Though the Valiants are getting pounded by Garrod and Wits, 4 of them get by and fly towards the Freeden. Waiting for them is Roybea in the new Leopard. He puts the Gatling guns over the suit’s normal arms and knocks out all but one with his opening volley of missiles. His machine guns easily shred the remaining Valiant while he is praised by Wits. Olba wants to attack the Gundams but Shagia reminds him of their purpose.
The Virsago and Ashtaron enter the Newtype lab and tell Karen that the plan has changed. She asks what he means and he shows her by blowing the dock’s door away. She tells them to quit fooling around as they fly up to her level of the building. Shagia tells her that he and Olba have the ability to communicate regardless of their distance apart but yet they were classified as ‘Type F’ by her. They tell her to taste the rage of people regarded as failures and introduce her to Virsago’s chest cannon. We see several scientists die in the blast as the Frosts go on a rampage. A scientist tells our blonde guy, Mr. Nichola, to continue the Barbena operation. Jamil kicks open a door and finds Mr. Nichola. Nichola offers to get him back to the Freeden.
Jamil and Nichola escape in a helicopter. Garrod saves them from a pursuing Valiant and guides them back to the Freeden. Jamil hops into the GX and joins the fray. Mr. Nichola walks into Tifa’s room and drags her into his helicopter. The mechanics try to help her but Mr. Nichola shoots at them. Sarah tells Garrod that Tifa is in the helicopter that just left the Freeden and Garrod remembers Tifa’s dream. He boosts after the helicopter as the officers from before ask Lord Bloodman to make his decision. The helicopter goes inside of a dome and a few missiles are fired at the pursuing Garrod. Garrod shoots the missiles but the dome’s top blows off and a shuttle flies out.
Garrod does his best to follow it but the Double X can’t keep up. Shagia prepares the Virsago’s chest cannon to fire at the Freeden but Jamil interrupts him. Wits gets into a dogfight with Olba as Roybea does his best to protect the Freeden. Garrod pleads with the Double X to speed up while we hear Lord Bloodman giving an announcement. He says that before ‘they’ land, the truth must be told. The space revolution forces still exist. He hopes that people will realize the true enemy is in space.
Paul Jr’s Thoughts:
Talk about a plot twist. Now the space forces are coming back and it seems that one of their men has captured Tifa. Seeing the Leopard Destroyer make its debut was impressive but we still can’t be sure that the Freeden will make it out alive. Now that we’re about 3/4 done with the series, the only thing I’m worried about is getting a rushed ending.
