Episode 32 - The the G falcon!
On space colony Cloud Nine, the Space Revolution’s leader, Lord Zidel, is comparing Cloud Nine to Noah’s Ark. Nichola and his crew returning was much like the white dove returning to Noah after finding land. Zidel tells his attendant to gather a conference to prepare for the invasion of Earth. His attendant salutes to the future of newtypes and takes his leave. On the hijacked New Federation ship, Garrod bursts into the bridge and gawks out the window. The Captain tells him to go back to his quarters but Garrod’s protests win him over. Garrod says that space is so deep and vast but he still feels at home. The Captain agrees and they start talking about newtypes. The Captain tells Garrod that all people who live in space become newtypes and that Garrod will as well if he sticks around. The Captain tells him to return to his room and Garrod takes a quick look around before he complies.
Lord Zidel’s conference with Nichola’s unit is well underway. Zidel gives them permission to rest until the 2nd unit (those on the hijacked ship) return. Nichola introduces Tifa to Zidel and explains she is a newtype from Earth. Zidel recoils like he was hit and soon, Nichola is walking Tifa to a big house for her. He tells Tifa that he regrets bringing her in such a violent fashion. They arrive at a balcony and he shows her the beautiful view of the colony. He tells her that unlike Earth, Cloud Nine hasn’t been scratched in the last 15 years. Tifa asks if they are going to repeat the war and he tells her the colony is Noah’s Ark. He says that old types can only ruin the Earth.
On Garrod’s ship, everyone is rushing to the bridge because they’ve finally contacted Cloud Nine. Zidel welcomes the 2nd Unit and asks if it is true that they have a New Federation ship. The Captain is pleased to inform Zidel that they also have the newest Gundam and the pilot wishes to join the Space Revolution. Zidel tells them to head to the 7th Military Colony instead so they may begin testing the Gundam. Zidel also orders them to keep Garrod at the colony because he may be a New Federation spy. Garrod leaves and says to himself he can’t hand over the Gundam until he has Tifa. Zidel turns off his end of the monitor and scoffs at the word Gundam.
At the 7th Military Colony, Lancelow Dowell has a few cadets training against balloons. His operator informs him that Lord Zidel wishes to speak to him and in a second, Zidel is on Lancelow’s monitor. Zidel tells him to go to the 7th Military Colony to receive something from their returning allies. Lancelow protests, saying his duty is to train pilots. Zidel tells him that they have a Gundam and its pilot in their possession. He jumps at the word Gundam and Tifa appears to have sensed it. As Lancelow’s fleet sets out, he wonders if Jamil is the pilot. Nichola brings some tea for Tifa and begins speaking of the colonial sunset. She doesn’t want to hear it and asks him to leave her alone. She puts her hand on her heart and tries to feel for Garrod’s presence.
Now, Garrod’s ship is beginning to dock at the 7th Military Colony. Garrod bursts into the bridge wielding a sub machine gun and holds up the Captain. He tells them its nothing personal but he needs the path to Space Colony Cloud Nine. One man goes for the communications panel but is caught by Garrod who figured out the locations during his previous visit to the bridge. Garrod is soon departing in the Double X. The Captain orders the station to be sealed so Garrod cannot escape. A few Jenices fire at Garrod and he realizes fighting under Zero gravity is harder than he thought.
Lancelow hears that the Gundam is escaping and orders his fleet to move double time. Garrod bursts into the colony and is caught by surprise that people live inside it. He destroys the 2 pursuing Jenices and one blows a hole in the colony. Garrod gets sucked out with the colony’s air and finds him being welcomed by Lancelow’s fleet. Lancelow orders his mobile suit, Crouda to be readied for launch as his Jenices attack Garrod. Lancelow hops into the Crouda as his mechanic babbles about being able to see another Gundam. Lancelow makes his way to the catapult and sees Garrod getting overwhelmed and decides there is no reason to launch. Tifa senses something and only says ‘he is similar’.
Zidel orders Nichola to hide Tifa’s existence on the grounds that if Newtypes can come from Earth, the Colonists will lose their identity. Lancelow is still on the catapult and he remembers the 7th Space War and has the flashback about his final battle with Jamil. Lancelow apparently lost his newtype ability although he claims to have seen the future the moment he lost it. Lancelow’s daydream was interrupted by another pilot because Garrod has caught on to fighting in space and is now a handful for the Jenices. Garrod takes down 4 Jenices and Lancelow launches. Garrod tries to escape but the Crouda flies ahead of him and stops him.
Lancelow throws the Double X off course with a devastating punch. Garrod fires back but Lancelow dodges every shot and head butts the Double X. Lancelow fires back and takes out Garrod’s rifle. Garrod tries to run away but a herd of Jenices stops him. They open fire on him, causing serious damage to the Double X. Even the cockpit is penetrated and some shrapnel cuts Garrod’s arm. Garrod uses the Gundam’s safety gum to repair the hole while Tifa begins to feel his presence. The Double X’s controls fail and Garrod is left clutching his arm. He yells that he will not die in that place and Tifa appears to have felt it. Lancelow orders his men to capture the now silent Gundam but Garrod speeds away. Lancelow fires and hits Garrod dangerously close to the cockpit. The blast knocks him out and Tifa yells Garrod’s name.
While Lancelow is moving towards the Gundam, a light appears. It’s the G Falcon, piloted by Pala Sys of the Anti Space Revolution movement called Satelicon. The G Falcon shoots down 2 Jenices in one volley as Lancelow looks in shock at another ghost from the war. The G Falcon grabs the Double X with its landing gear and speeds off. Lancelow orders the Jenices to pursue but the endeavor is useless. Pala tries to talk to Garrod but he is still unconscious. She assumes he is dead and flies her catch to the waiting Satelicon cruiser.
Paul Jr’s Thoughts:
Now we know all about the space revolution’s intent though their actions with Tifa surprise me. If Newtypes are only from space, how do they explain Jamil as well as the pilots of Leopard and Airmaster during the 7th space war? The emergence of Satelicon means that our heroes may finally have an ally. I’m only left to wonder what can come of this.
