Welcome to Gundam Plus II, the successor to the original Gundam Plus site.
Episode 35 - I will not let the light of hope go out!
A few faces we haven’t seen in awhile, the Freeden crew, is onboard a New Federation train. Jamil asks Tonya what she sees out the window. Tonya says she only sees wasteland and figures they are heading north. Ennil says they are probably headed to a prison in Siberia. Doctor Techs sits Jamil down and tells him he is an idiot for choosing to die like them instead of going back to the military. Jamil says he won’t abandon what he started. Wits says he wants to stay with all of them. Roybea chimes in saying he’d go to hell and back. Sam says that Garrod and Tifa will probably help them. Jamil shares his faith.
Garrod isn’t having a fun time either. He loses his shield while Paula struggles not to get shot. While Paula was looking at Garrod, Olba got in front of her and grabbed the G Falcon with the Ashtaron’s claws. After giving Paula a good shake, Shagia tells Garrod to surrender unless he wants to see Paula die. Without much of a choice, Garrod casts his beam saber aside. Shagia grabs the Double X and tells Garrod he wishes he could kill him but has other orders. Lord Bloodman apparently wants to meet Garrod and Tifa as he waits at the base for them to arrive. His attendant asks what to do with the Double X. Bloodman says it is Izmat’s legacy and he wants to see it perform. The GX, Leopard and Airmaster are being hauled to Kursk, guarded by 4 Valiants while a plane looms overhead. A pilot on the plane is told they’ve caught up with their target. Who could it be?
At Bloodman’s base, the Double X and G Falcon are stored and Paula marvels at how nice the Earth is. Garrod reminds her that they’re wearing handcuffs and says the Earth is too good for the New Federation. Olba slaps Garrod, not hard, it was surprisingly womanish. Shagia appears to chastise him as a limo pulls up for Garrod and Tifa. Paula is told she’ll have to remain behind. As Garrod and Tifa leave, Shagia assures him that they will not treat Paula badly. The guards may have intended to keep that promise but she is so unruly that they lock her in a hangar. As they walk away, one guard complains that she bit his hand. She continues pounding on the door but gives up shortly.
The Frosts escort Garrod into the room where Bloodman is waiting. Bloodman tells Garrod to take a seat and Garrod complies. Bloodman thanks Garrod for stopping the Colony Laser. Garrod says he didn’t do it for the New Federation; he did it to stop needless death. Bloodman says he is hoping for a peace treaty. He adds that not only himself but everyone who witnessed the last war agrees. Bloodman insists that he is fighting for the freedom of Earth and that space is the source of evil. Garrod says that the New Federation started wars all over Earth. Bloodman says it was to bring back order and then asks Garrod if he thinks all small nations are just. Garrod looks visibly shaken but Bloodman continues by asking Garrod about his experience in space. Garrod says the only condition he’ll tell it on is if Jamil and the others are released. Bloodman agrees and orders a guard to bring Tifa in. The Frosts telepathically talk about Tifa reading Bloodman’s thoughts. They come to agree that it will be interesting regardless.
Tifa enters and sits beside Garrod. Bloodman asks about her encounter with Zidel went. Tifa declines and tells Garrod that Bloodman had no intent of keeping his promise. She says that she sensed evil from Zidel and that Bloodman isn’t much different. Garrod says he wants to know what is at the bottom of these people’s hearts. She says she understands and puts her hand on Garrod’s. She focuses and sees the Moon again like she did in from Zidel. Then she sees the silhouette of a man raise his arms out to the side. She gets a newtype click and says “Dome! Dome on the moon!” Bloodman stands up, visibly shaken. Garrod asks what Dome is. Tifa says she doesn’t know but she does know that Dome was inside Zidel’s heart too. Bloodman punches the table and informs Tifa that she has misused her power. He says that though newtypes have special abilities, they don’t know how to use them and showing them what to do is the New Federation’s goal. Garrod asks if he wants newtypes to be tools. Bloodman tells him he is absolutely right. Bloodman doesn’t know if newtypes are advanced humans and he doesn’t care either. To him, the special abilities are what matter but Jamil disagrees. According to Bloodman, had Jamil not been such a prick, he’d still be alive. Garrod jumps up and asks if Jamil is already dead. Tifa calms him down and tells him not to worry for ‘he’ is there.
The prisoner train with the Freeden crew screeches to a halt. The Freeden crew is lead to a trench where a firing squad prepares to end them. Out of the sky flies Carris Nautilus, the Fort Severn hero, in his Bertigo. From the dust, the Freeden crew disarms them. Jamil asks Carris how he knew where to find them. Carris promises to go over details later and makes short work of the Valiants. Some Jurags arrive from Fort Severn to reinforce the Bertigo and they bring along with them the recaptured Gundams. A New Federation unit quickly approaches so Roybea suggests returning the favor. The Fort Severn units hold their ground as Jamil, Wits and Roybea launch.
The combined strength of the Gundams and Fort Severn hammer the Valiants. Jamil uses his Harmonica cannon to take down the New Federation plane. The crew thanks Carris and he tells them they joined resistance in North America and intercepted the New Federation transmission. Doctor Techs tells Carris that Garrod and Tifa wanted to see him. Tonya adds that they are in space. Carris informs them that Garrod and Tifa already made it back to Earth. They heard from the New Federation that Garrod and Tifa were taken to see Bloodman. Carris suggests they go greet them.
The Frosts go over to the room where Garrod and Tifa are being held. They ask the guards if the prisoners are behaving. Olba asks Shagia what Bloodman will do to Garrod and Tifa. Shagia informs him that they will not be safe after mentioning Dome in front of Bloodman. Garrod picks the lock on their room and Tifa senses the guards outside. In a few seconds she says it is safe and they move out. Sure enough, the guards went to the window on the other side of the hall to talk about how creepy the Frosts are. The Frosts go out to Bloodman’s balcony and begin to flatter him with their wish for him to be the absolute ruler over Earth and space. On Cloud Nine, Zidel scoffs at the idea of signing a treaty with the Earth. Despite Lancelow’s pleas to rethink their political strategy of newtypeism, Zidel says that there will be a war and if they have to they’ll contact Dome on the moon. Garrod and Tifa break Paula out of her cold warehouse and they find the Double X and G Falcon in a different hangar. We are left with a still frame of them starting toward the Double X and G Falcon.
Paul Jr’s Thoughts:
We have the Freeden crew and Fort Severn on their side. Garrod, Tifa and Paula seem to be ready to escape the New Federation. All in all, people seem to be rallying alongside the Freeden crew. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Estard join in soon. For now, what is Dome on the moon? Why does it seem to bother Zidel and Bloodman so much? And is it just the fashion or do dictators belong looking corpulent?
