Episode 37 - Freeden Launch!
In the New Orleans base mess hall, Paula sits down with her food and tells everyone not to be so sad. Ennil says they are not afraid of dying, just afraid of the world going back to how it was after the first war. Tonya says that after the war, there was an endless winter and she didn’t see the sun until she was 7. Doctor Techs says that the collapse of the social system was enough to make an atheist doctor wish there was a God. Paula says they cannot let it happen but wonders what they are supposed to do. Tifa tells Jamil that Zidel is steadfast and there will be no chance at peace. Roybea says that if the colonies are dropped on Earth again, it will be the end for them. Wits calls him an idiot and says he can accept if he dies in his own war but not in someone else’s. Garrod says the problem right now is the colonies and asks if Carris can get information on them. Carris says he cannot get it directly and Jamil says the colonies’ move will decide the future.
Zidel is told by his attendant that the New Federation has already launched their fleet into space. He asks how long it will take their fleet to be prepared and is told that they are awaiting orders. Zidel asks about the ‘other matter’ and the attendant says he will take care of it today. Lancelow in his ship asks if there has been any New Federation movement. He is told no but gets a private message on a disc. He gets a prerecorded message from Nichola that says he is probably already dead for political dissenting. As he talks, he is being lead into a prison to a firing squad. Nichola refuses the blindfold and says that Lancelow is his greatest hope to lead the country. He says that people need to forget newtype and oldtype and look for a lasting peace. He says that Lancelow can accomplish it before his message fades out and he meets the guns of the squad. In his ship, Zidel says to himself that he needs to make contact with Dome. He believes that he, the leader of the newtypes should be the only one to contact Dome.
Bloodman hears from the Frost Brothers that some troops admire Zidel’s determination, even though he is the enemy. Bloodman says he is also determined and has made preparations on the new Flagship. The Frosts ask if he is coming and he says it is his duty as the ruler of the coming age. The Frosts leave and Olba says their preparations are complete. Shagia says the only problem left is the existence of Dome. Bloodman goes on his balcony and curses newtypeists and hopes they can’t contact the moon.
Tifa sits outside and watches the moon move as Jamil, Carris and Sarah watch the space revolution’s movements. Wits gives Tonya a ring but runs away embarrassed when Ennil sees him. As Ennil sees what it is, Wits curses her for interrupting. Ennil and Tonya sit in her room and Ennil says she understands him. When the war starts, nobody knows what will happen so he chose to come out with it now. Ennil asks what Tonya’s answer will be but we don’t know because now Roybea asks Sarah how she feels about him. He says before he goes to war he wants to make it clear that he is serious about her. She says she already knows. He asks if she is still waiting for Jamil’s answer. She says yes and says he’ll just have to wait then. Garrod joins Tifa outside and asks what she is doing. She says she is only looking at the moon. Tifa says that sad times are coming again but she is happy to not be alone.
From his flagship, Bloodman orders all ships to advance. Garrod promises to protect Tifa as Zidel orders his fleet forward. Tifa makes him promise that he won’t die and says for the first time she wishes she had more power. The next morning, Carris, Garrod and Jamil are watching the 2 fleets move. Tonya comes running in and says something is wrong with Tifa. Garrod bursts in and shakes Tifa to see if she will respond. Tifa has a dream where she is surrounded by yellow lights. A blue ball of light flies into her hands and tells her that her solution is Dome on the moon. She sees the crater were the Satellite System is located. Tifa wakes up and tells Jamil she needs to go to the moon. In the hangar, Wits, Roybea and Garrod talk about how they’ll get to space to meet this Dome guy. Sam yells at them and reminds them he is working on 4 suits at once and advises them to follow Paula’s example that is in her cockpit helping the mechanics. The helmsman enters and says that the Space Revolution has set a course for the moon.
Zidel is indeed on his way and he tells his crew that their target is the Old Federation lunar base. He wants to capture the microwave system and use it to fuel his fleet. Lancelow hears this and his crewman asks if they’re not afraid of the invisible devil. Every attack there has failed which is rather pathetic on a derelict base.
Carris tells Garrod and Tifa that the negotiation for the ship isn’t going well as they see no reason to intervene in a war. To them, letting both sides get wiped out is a much better alternative. Carris worries about Zidel getting to Dome before them but Tifa assures him that nobody can get to Dome. Sarah asks Jamil if the Colonies will capture the moon but he is confident of its automated defense system.
As Zidel’s fleet approaches the moon, they launch the Crouda mobile suits. Several Bit type mobile suits awaken and attack the Croudas. For lack of a nicer term, the Bit mobile suits hand the Croudas their asses. Several mobile suit teams are defeated at the hands of the automated Bits. Lancelow wonders what could be so great that it requires this kind of defense. Zidel wonders why Dome will not accept him when he gets word that the New Federation Fleet is coming at 9 o clock. He is forced to break off his attack and head for the New Federation.
At New Orleans, the Freeden crew decided to take action and steal the space ship. They are vultures after all. Roybea says that they are, after all, just Vultures. Garrod asks Carris if he is okay with not being able to return to the resistance. Carris says they don’t have time to wait for the top brass to decide. Carris names Jamil the captain of this new ship. Jamil asks the name of the ship and Carris tells him it is the Freeden II. Jamil probably felt right at home saying “Freeden, Launch!” again. The Freeden barrels up the mass driver and heads to space to find the mystery of Dome.
Paul Jr’s Thoughts:
Well we still don’t know what Dome is though it seems to get more important by the hour. The Freeden II looked pretty darn slick and it is again their lifeline. I guess I was wrong about Estard showing up but no matter, we only have 2 episodes left and a lot of answers waiting.
