Welcome to Gundam Plus II, the successor to the original Gundam Plus site.
Episode 5 - You Must Pull The Trigger
The Freeden avoids destruction by a hair as Jamil senses Virsago’s incoming beam and orders the ship to move. The Freeden’s main engine is taken down so all ships order their mobile suits to move out. Garrod is still begging Jamil to let him pilot the GX. Jamil asks him what he’s fighting for and he tries to say it is for the newtypes but just comes out and says it’s because he likes Tifa. Then Jamil concedes and gives Garrod the mobile suit’s control. Shortly after launching, Garrod encounters the Gundam Virsago. Virsago throws two punches with its extendable arms. GX dodges both before drawing his beam rifle. He fires upon Virsago, only to run out of ammunition shortly. Shagia returns fire with the beam cannon in Virsago’s hand.
We’re taken to a bar where a man comments on how he can drink all night because the bar is reserved. Outside we see Roy and Gundam Leopard, sitting in thought, cocktail in hand. A lady inside asks where her Roy is. Gundam Airmaster is shown pushing aside a building in a destroyed town. Peeling a piece of debris reveals a collection of gold bars, no doubt Wits’ stash. Wits lays a few more down before sitting on his gold and looking at a photo, probably of his family. He promises that when he has a few more, he’ll come take them away.
Now Olba Frost has arrived at the Alternative Company and hands over Tifa. He tells them her condition is critical. Olba then leaves to help his brother get rid of the mobile suits. By now, Shagia has realized that Garrod is an amateur and lands two punches on the GX. The Virsago has the GX pinned by a hill, ready to fire its chest cannon when some Vulture Jenices fire at the Virsago. The Virsago turns and destroys the Jenices and turns back to Garrod. When Virsago is about to fire, GX thrusts upward, just in time to evade the blast. GX draws its beam saber as does Virsago. They exchange blows and GX is ready to cut Virsago in two when his arm is caught by the Ashtaron’s claw. The Frost brothers surround the GX. Olba catches the GX’s arms in its claws while Shagia prepares to kill the pilot and retrieve the Gundam.
Just before the Virsago’s saber can connect, Virsago is shot from behind. Airmaster and Leopard had come to Garrod’s rescue. Leopard and Airmaster support Garrod as he again fights Virsago. Back at the Alternative Company, they receive an old space force mobile armor called Grandeen. The Grandeen charges its cannon and begins firing. The Grandeen’s shots aren’t discriminating as Shagia and Olba are nearly downed in a blast as well. Jamil takes a hover bike out of the Freeden and goes toward the GX. He is knocked off by an explosion and is luckily protected by the GX’s hand. He gets inside and creates a telepathic link between Tifa and himself. He tells Garrod where to aim. Suddenly, Virsago and Ashtaron come from behind GX, moving in for the kill. Jamil orders Garrod not to move and not a second later, Airmaster and Leopard shoot the Frost brothers down. The Moon rises and Garrod receives the Satellite System’s power. With a single shot, the Satellite Cannon destroys the Grandeen and a large portion of the Alternative Company, including Von Alternative.
Garrod flies over to where Tifa is waiting and brings her back aboard the Freeden. The Freeden crew bids farewell to the other captains as they all part ways. Roy and Wits also leave the Freeden after repairs.
Paul Jr’s Thoughts:
The Freeden prevailed over the Frost Brothers and Alternative with a little help from their friends. Now that the Alternative Company is crippled, will they remain an industrial power? Will the Frosts stay with Alternative after being fired upon? And what will Garrod and Tifa do now that they’re on the Freeden?
