Welcome to Gundam Plus II, the successor to the original Gundam Plus site.
Episode One - Gundam Rising
Char’s Mousai fires missiles at Side 7's space port. A stray missile blows a hole in the spaceport but it is quickly patched with gum. Fraw Bow helps the orphans, Katz, Letz and Kikka onto a cart when an explosion sends debris flying toward them. Amuro shields them with Gundam’s hand and tells them to get a move on to Whitebase. Ryu Jose volunteers to relieve Whitebase’s captain from the turret when a missile sends both of them into a wall. The Captain shields Ryu and is impaled by debris. Our tough captain asks if Ryu is alright as Ryu helps him down. Slender docks in Char’s Mousai and Char tells him he followed orders and has nothing to worry about. Char says it is hard to believe that the Federation could build a mobile suit strong enough to take on a Zaku and Slender insists he saw it himself. Char orders his helmsman to open a comm line with Admiral Dozle Zabi. Fraw has the orphans sit in a place where they’re out of the way when Sayla Mass asks her to help with the wounded. Sayla takes Fraw to the wounded Captain and leaves her with him and Ryu. Fraw begins to clean and dress the Captain when Bright runs in and asks the Captain what is wrong. Captain asks how many soldiers are still around. Bright says only 10 people are combat ready and Captain orders him to destroy the Gundam components. Bright says they have someone piloting the Gundam and they’ve gotten a Guntank and Guncannon onboard. Captain asks if Bright knows the pilot. Bright doesn’t and Captain tells him to get Whitebase as far from Side 7 as possible. Bright asks how to do it when they lack a pilot. Captain says the computer can do it but Mirai Yashima, who is attending another patient, says she is certified to fly a space glider and Captain asks her name. Captain is surprised to find that someone from the famous Yashima family would be on a warship.
Admiral Dozle seems rather annoyed that his victory party for Char will have to be cancelled. Char tells him that they’ve discovered the Federation’s V project and a battle ready warship. Dozle asks if there is anything else that might interest him and Char says he exhausted his supplies and could use 3 Zakus and more missiles. Dozle is again angry that Char lost 3 Zakus but promises that he’ll get them and tells Char to get as much information as possible on the V Project. Char tells his helmsman to get 3 people ready for a recon mission. According to him, they’re going to escape side 7 in reverse. As Char and 3 men exit the Mousai in normal suits, Bright wheels the Captain’s stretcher into the Whitebase’s bridge. Captain tells Bright to instruct Amuro to cover the Whitebase as it leaves port. Bright brings up Amuro on the screen and is shocked to see he is just a kid. Mirai says that everyone on Side 7 knows that Amuro is a “techno freak” and isn’t exactly surprised that he picked up on the Gundam. Bright discusses removing Amuro but Captain says they need him as another pilot isn’t available.
Fraw and Sayla go back into Side 7 to search for survivors and find Ryu helping a wounded soldier to the spaceport. Kai Shiden runs past them into the elevator and says he doesn’t know if there is anyone else around. Sayla slaps him for being a coward and after an exchange of words, Fraw and Sayla move out. Ryu forces Kai to help shoulder the wounded man and they use the elevator. Char signals to his Mousai where it is supposed to fire at the Colony. Char and co enter in a maintenance hatch and the bridge picks up a quickly approaching Mousai. Captain orders a beam rifle to be given to Amuro and the gundam components be destroyed. Amuro suggests using napalm. As Fraw drives in Side 7's residential area, she has a pseudo flashback of her running to get Amuro and she thinks of her mother. Sayla’s run finds Char looking at the downed Guntank. She holds Char up and tells him to take off his helmet and mask. As she notes that he looks just like her brother, he kicks the gun out of her hand and says Sayla is too strong to be his sister, Artesia. As Char escapes, Amuro shows up. He picks up Sayla in the Gundam’s hand and burns the Guntank’s remains with the super napalm. As the spaceport opens to receive the Gundam, Char takes the opening and gets inside the hangar. As Char zips through the hangar taking pictures, everyone who can hold a gun tries to shoot him. Char dodges everything because his awesomeness doesn’t allow him to be shot but Bright takes Char’s camera out before Char grenades out 2 walls and makes his escape. As Char and his crew head toward the Mousai, Amuro fires at them with Gundam’s beam rifle .Amuro isn’t able to hit anything and Char knows it.
Whitebase leaves port and Hayato and Sayla are instructed on how to fire missiles from the bridge. Ryu takes the core fighter out to support Amuro. Two missiles from the Mousai come close to Whitebase but Amuro gets them both shot down. Whitebase finds that a Zaku is traveling at 3 times the normal speed of a regular one and Captain realizes it has to be the Red Comet, Char Aznable, who took down 5 ships at the Battle of Loum. Char figures it is a good time to test the reaction time on the Gundam and Amuro only thinks of the humans inside the machines. Char jukes out of the path of Amuro’s beam and scores a direct hit on the Gundam. Char is shocked that the Gundam is still kicking and Amuro is in shock that he is realizing what war is like. Char flies at Amuro and Amuro dodges, cluing Char to the fact that the Gundam might be more than he can handle. Char tells Slender to get behind the Gundam and Slender expresses concern about the beam rifle. Char says it doesn’t matter if Amuro can’t hit them and Slender rains bullets on Amuro. Amuro isn’t scratched and Bright says the core fighter will support him. Amuro sees Char charging again and tries to punch the Zaku but again Char dodges. As Char is ready to shoot Amuro again, Ryu distracts Char with the core fighter. Amuro shoots Slender with the beam rifle, downing the Zaku in one shot. Char says that to down a Zaku with only one shot that he would need a cannon the size of a battleship’s. Amuro shoots at Char but depletes his ammo. Both sides return to their ships and Bright orders Amuro and Ryu to the bridge. Bright eyes up Amuro and tell him that he mustn’t rely on the Gundam’s capabilities. Amuro tells him not to be such a jerk and Bright says Amuro is free to hate him if he so wishes. Now the Whitebase sets out for Luna II.
Paul Jr’s Thoughts:
Well okay for a second episode. We’re seeing the emergence of Bright as the tough loving captain that he’ll soon be. Kai also made his appearance showing his will to look out for number 1. Char and Sayla seemed to know each other. Could a Federation officer and Zeon ace be related? What does Char have up his sleeve for them at Luna II?
