Episode 5 - Dianna's Arrival
This episode starts off with the militia, driving somewhere near 10 or 12 trucks filled with Militia men, all going to fight against the imposing Mobile Suits from the Moon. A Zeppelin flies overhead, and on board are Kihel, her mother and Loran, staring out at the clear blue sky. Loran sits, thinking back to what Ralf Grey told him: The Militia is relying on his Mobile Suit - if the Militia is less powerful than the invading forces, then they will not be equal at the negotiations, which may be disastrous. Loran comments on how horrible it is that power is necessary even for negotiation.
The captain of the Zeppelin walks into the room, stating that they will alter their course, and be arriving later than expected, due to the fight. As Loran and Kihel stare out in wonder, they spot Soshie and her friend Meishi are piloting a newer (albeit still world-war one style) airplane, and that Soshie is driving. Wondering what they are doing, and realizing that an attack with that sort of plane is nothing but useless, Loran decides to exit the Zeppelin in midair and get onto their plane. As Loran dangles from a rope and wood ladder, Soshie and Meishi attempt to get close enough and slow enough to pick him up.
Loran, swinging and then releasing, lands on the plane in a not so comfortable manner (at least for us guys), but recovers, and begins to question them, saying that it is a pointless blunder. He also tells soshie that the moonrace wants nothing more than a living place. When soshie asks how he knows this, he says that he heard it while he was captured. Neither of them seems to take much notice, as they both agree that now is the time to initiate their "plan", which is to capture mobile suits. Hurling bombs and firing bullets, they bombard buildings and people within the moonrace's camp, as the militia on the ground close in, firing at the small town themselves, driving up and taking people from within the buildings.
Stealing equipment and bringing it back, the militia seems to be a power-crazed (outdated) machine, stealing everything and doing what they please. As Loran flies in the plane with soshie and meishi, meishi reveals that she wants to bring back their technological advancements. After Loran shows his doubts, Meishi jumps from the plane and lands on a suit which seems to be designed specifically for putting up fences, and begins to hammer on the outside.
Because of this hostility, the Moon Race's forces approach the base with a WalDom and some Cutes, shooting down a plane as it attempts to fire upon them. The WalDom pilot stops near Meishi and gets out, telling Meishi that they as barbarians are not worthy to be killed by her, but she finds it disgusting that they think they can fight against them. The female pilot (whom we met on several occasions before) then picks up meishi with her WalDoms hand and say that she will use her as a hostage. Seeing this, Loran tells Soshie to go back to Issan town so that he may start up whitedoll.
Back at the castle, Negotiations between Ralf Grey and Harry begin. Harry immediately asks why the Militia would attack unarmed people, to which Ralf states that he told them only to issue a warning, then leans forward, very businesslike. Ralf states, confidently and with what seems to be a great amount of pleasure; he says that they should act as if the two years of negotiation they had wirelessly never happened.
Ralf says that they do not have the moonrace's high level of technology and advancements, to which Harry responds by asking (shocked) how they can want them to meet their barbarian standards. When Ralf acknowledges this, Harry stands up.
Miss Heim and Kihel go to their old house, now in ruins, and meet Sam and Seshika, where we learn that the mansion is Seshika's house.
Driving along a long dirt road with Shido, his assistant, and Soshie. We learn that they have found more mobile suits, and that they believe that WhiteDoll's armaments are around the area they are at now. Shido says that he has everyone he can look for these things, and that he even has some militia. After arriving at the WhiteDoll, Loran pulls out his Palm-pocket like manual and begins to read and type into it. The other three, interested in its design and how to use it, tell Loran to learn all about it.
Mrs. Heim sits in her living room, seemingly oblivious to everything, looking at a picture of herself and her now dead husband. Outside, Sam ties rope around the handles so that she cannot leave the house, and she begins to giver her daughter orders to decorate the house, saying that her father will be unhappy if it is not done well. Leaving the room, Kihel breaks into tears, and heads to the window, where she sees Soshie's plane, and WhiteDoll, now moving.
At the Moonrace's base, the female WalDom pilot complains to a mechanic about an unstable cabin door, and the mechanic tells her to head back to base. Meanwhile, we hear yelling from a short distance away, and see that it is Meishi being yelled at by a moonrace military man. Unable to accept that she would attack without orders, Meishi tells the man to kill her if she doesn't like it, but the man says that that would be horrible to do, but he tied her up the way she is because she is like a wild pig. Pulling out a sharp knife, he cuts her bonds and walks out the door, saying that she is not to leave the room. As he closes the Door, he hears the voice of Loran from a distance, saying that he has come to take back the hostages. Recognizing that he is unarmed, the man gives out orders to capture the WhiteDoll. Meishi Runs from the Room, escaping towards whiteDoll, and the female WalDom pilot pursues, trying to not kill Meishi, as they believe they can use her. The Pilot of the WalDom yells out over the intercom that she, Meishi, is the whiteDoll's Pilot, and as she picks her up in the MobileSuit's hand, Meishi begins to yell that they will only user her as a shield. As she zooms in on Loran, she believes that Loran is a female pilot, and demands that Militia Soldiers back off. Instead of following these orders, Loran leaps forward with the Whitedoll and uses its hand to slice off the WalDom's hand with one clean blow. After the WalDom knocks Loran over, Loran jumps up and catches the flying Hand (with Meishi in it) without a hitch (the hand looks to be about the size of WhiteDoll's torso). As Loran chats with Meishi, he reveals that he is not worried about crushing her (she is in WhiteDoll's hand) because he doesn't yet know how to move the fingers: He is still learning how to pilot the machine.
Back at the Castle, Ralf Grey gets off the phone, and Harry asks him if he has figured out if a troop has attacked a civilian base. Ralf says that the call was from the other troop, but they were told that there would be a move like this. Ralf gets up to take a private call from his finance in another, enclosed, room. We hear that this call is not actually from his finance, but from one of his militia generals. They say that they are preparing to fight them back, to show the moonrace their real power. Ralf Grey asks they can start the mobile suits. The general says that WhiteDoll has showed itself in a big way. Ralf then says that when Dianna Soriell lands at the airport in Norse City, he would like to show off Loran's Mobile Suit.
In the next scene, we see Kihel on the back of a train, riding through the country side. Going past her are large (although not as large as WhiteDoll) Mobile suits. She asks one of the men aboard if that is the machines found within the mines. He confirms this, saying that they are called 'Kapool', as one of many, many kapool's pass, Kihel sees her sister, Soshie. Soshie waves, and as Kihel demands she gets down and stops, Soshie refuses, saying that she is its pilot. As Shoshie proceeds forward, she sees Loran run up into the house at the end of the track, yelling out a protest while entering. Soshie walks up to her sister and says that being a Pilot is cool. Kihel tells her that she is here to pick her up and bring her home, but Soshie says that they have to attack the Moonrace. When Kihel says that she ought to be worried about mom, Soshie says that she is doing this for their mother: She is going to drive the Kapool and Fight.
Inside the house, a man dressed in a military uniform (not militia) and surrounded by militia men is giving a speech. He concludes that it doesn't matter how powerful the moonrace's weapons are, as long as they can capture their leader. He also concludes that if they kill her, they will surely lose. When Loran asks why they don't wait for Dianna to come to them, because battle's only kill innocent people, the general states that there is no battle - they only want to kidnap Dianna. He then looks around at the men, stating that Loran's WhiteDoll's purpose is to protect Ralf Grey.
As Ralf pulls up next to other cars, they are in view of the large Golden Sumo and a WalDom, dominating the skyline ahead. Ralf Grey comments on how impressive they are, but he then says that when Loran comes, they will be in no less of a position. As Loran approaches in the WhiteDoll, Harry sees him, asking him who he thinks he is, arriving with no weapons.
Loran looks skyward, eager and joyful, seeing Dianna's arrival. As Dianna's ship begins to Land, Harry takes off and surprises everyone with a gust of wind, landing skilfully next to Loran, in front of the Ship. Harry moves his mobile suits arm in front of the WhiteDoll as if to block him from attacking Dianna's ship, and Loran uses a long distance camera to view Dianna on his monitor. As Dianna walks out of the ship, her presence is commanding. She states that she is Dianna Soriell, and asks if Grey is actually Grey. When he responds, Grey stutters, merely saying yes, bowing, hat off, to Dianna, calling her Queen Dianna. She tells him to get up, and then looks up, thanking all of her people.
Final Thoughts: This episode was truly impressive: the power of WhiteDoll seems to be absolutely amazing - it took off the hand of a mobile suit with just an uppercut, then caught a hand nearly the size of its Torso. Another interesting twist is that we can see that there is more than one - in fact, there looked to be more like five, possibly even ten - of the Kapools. If these prove to be as powerful as WhiteDoll, then this could really mean a problem fro the Moonrace Forces. And while I was almost convinced that Loran was a traitor to Grey Ralf, I now am just a bit confused - he hasn't given away that there is a plan to kidnap Dianna, yet he seems to be overly obsessed with her.
