Episode 7 - Practice of a Noble Lady

Review by Athrun Zala

Shido rides away in the back of a truck in search of more weapons to use for the mobile Suits they have found, and his accomplice turns to Meishi's Kapool and picks up a bunch of broken wires. As she asks if he can fix them, he says that he doesn't know. It's clear to us that although they have these advance mobile suits, they know very little about them. He admits that the main problem is WhiteDoll - they have only found one of them, and they have no spare parts or weapons.

Soshie runs off to wake up Loran, who is dozing under the WhiteDoll. As she wakes him, Meishi tells him that Soshie has been praising him. As the two fight over what she did (or did not) say, Loran looks glum - he says that even though they are not in battle, they can ruin it if they fight. Soshie reveals that Grey's factories are making components for Mobile Suits. Loran hardly believes it, but he shrugs it off, saying that he really wants to meet the Queen of the Moon. Soshie thinks he is stupid, and says that he ought to just walk into the enemy's base then. Both Soshie and Meishi walk off disgusted.

Back at the Moon base, the Pilot from the last battle is talking in front of a bunch of committee members. He reveals that they found out something very important: The Earth People are digging for Mobile Suits in Shigail Mountain. He makes it a point to explain that there are other mountains other than Shigail Mountain with historical remains.

Dianna Walks along under a star-lit sky. She tells Administrator Miran that he told her that she should leave some troops out to investigate a few mountains. Miran Nods, saying that if the earth people had an army, they would not be willing to negotiate. She nods, repeating this fact, saying that there will be no war. She then looks up, saying that they better hold their party soon, explaining that the party will show both sides that there will be no useless wars.

In the City, Keith loads up a bicycle with bread and prepares to head out. The baker’s daughter walks up, asking if he really wants to do that - Keith says that he doesn't really have a choice. As Keith takes a rest in the shade, he witnesses that the Earth people are still protesting and many of them standing in the way of the mobile suits designed for building. As the army men of the Moon shoot at the earth people and chase them off, a soldier walks up to Keith, asking if he may try one. Keith gives him a loaf, and the man, pleased with its taste, says that he should sell it at the Moon's army base - he will make a fortune.

Grey and a table full of his advisor's speak of war tactics - they reveal that they cannot win, and know it. Kihel comes in and hands Grey a letter from Dianna, which reads that they are invited to a social party. At the mines, they begin to lower multiple items. Sido's assistant reveals that they are weapons, and that he will need to talk to Loran about it - we can assume they are for the WhiteDoll. Soshie tells him that it's not possible, as he went to go speak with Grey Ralf, and doesn't know when he'll be back. Shido's assistant laughs, asking how she doesn't even know the schedule of her own assistant.

Loran meets up with Grey at a large mansion. Grey tells him (he calls him "Lora", and this will later be very important), that the 1st lieutenant Harry wishes to meet with the WhiteDoll's pilot during this party, because it is a friendship party. Kihel leads Loran to a closet full of clothes, makeup and hats of all kinds. Kiehl reveals that this is all ready for foreign guests, but it is now for "Lora". Loran asks what she means by Lora, and she says that Grey wants them to know that even the Earth people's Mobile suits are driven by females and that she, Kihel, will teach Loran to act and dance like a Lady. In the Bakery, a Moonrace Army Soldier walks in, handing Keith a picture that looks rather like a snowman. He says that it is the Earth and the Moon, and that he would like a Cake of it made - two meters high.

Back in the Mansion, Loran is being schooled in how to walk like a Lady in high heels and a dress, as Kihel scolds him and hits him with a fan when he does something wrong. Kihel applies makeup and puts on a corset, pulling it tight, telling him that his waist must be slimmer. Keith struggles to finish the cake, falling into it, and encountering a large number of problems, as Loran is finally dressed up in a Royal Green, his hair up in a bun like a girls, and jewellery all around. As he courtesy's, you wouldn't believe he wasn't a female.

As the party begins, WhiteDoll approaches, with Grey and Kihel in its hand, dressed up in a suit and a ballroom gown. As WhiteDoll Lowers Grey, Kihel and Loran down to the Ground, Fran takes photos for the newspaper, and guesses that "Lora" May actually is Loran - obviously the disguise isn't perfect for anyone who knows him well.
Harry appears on the scene, stepping out of his mobile suit with ease in a pin-striped yellow and black suit. He walks up to the three and asks if the girl in the center - Loran - is the Pilot of WhiteDoll. When Grey confirms this, and Loran Courtsies, he merely says that he will say Hi to her later on, and walks past as if he hadn't seen them at all.
Inside, we see a split in the Room - even though they are all eating and drinking, those who came from the Moon stay on one side of the room, and those who are earth natives stay on the other, and neither will talk to each other. Miran tells Dianna that if they do not break the gap between them, no one will, so they should Order someone to go over. Harry offers himself, eagerly getting up and heading directly for the earth people, telling a man near the music box to play waltz music. He asks if anyone would wish to dance with him. Loran comments to Kihel that just standing there is very impolite, and so Kihel says that he should be the first to go, and pushes him out. He recuperates by curtsying and beginning to dance with Harry. As they begin to dance, others follow their lead, and soon nearly everyone is dancing, seemingly having a great time. In the back room, Keith finally finishes the cake, and a few earth Militia men bring in a large pink stand.

Loran and Harry Dance, and Loran tells Harry of how they found the mobile Suits. He also tells Harry of how they believe that other mountains may hold other Mobile Suits. Unfortunately, their pleasant conversation is interrupted, as Grey asks if he may introduce "Lora" to the Queen Dianna. Harry has no objections, and tells Loran that he would like to dance again, later on. Grey introduces Loran as "Lora Lorra", and Dianna comments that she is very pretty. Loran Bows, saying that he is pleased to see her, After Loran asks her why she is here, and there is still war, Dianna says that although their opinions may be different, they both want the same thing. She turns to Grey and asks him if he would like to re-start negotiations. Grey accepts without hesitation. The cake rolls in, and Dianna steps forward, admiring it and its handiwork. Grey and Dianna are each handed a Rose, and told to place their roses in the other's home world, symbolizing their unity and friendship. From below the cake, trap doors open, and a few men fly out, shooting at Dianna. Loran Jumps forward, Saving Dianna and then let’s go of her, attempting to catch one of them, as Harry kicks another into the cake.

Miran helps up Dianna, telling Grey that In light of these Events, Negotiations cannot continue. Grey looks worried and Shocked, repeating these words hopelessly. Loran Runs to the Whitedoll and uses it's hand to catch the men, but because he cannot control the fingers as well as he should be able to, they escape, but something falls out of their pocket. Harry Scolds Loran for not grabbing them tight enough. Loran says that if he did so, they may have been killed. Harry says that his skills are not good enough to do so. Harry finds the fallen object and comes to a startling conclusion - he says that it is a 'portable breath machine', and that those men may have been MoonRace.

Inside the Castle, Grey sits in a chair, looking distressed and worried. Miran walks in, saying that he is lucky that Dianna was not hurt. He also says that he hopes that Grey will be able to better control the militia, and that he believe that it was the actions of a few singular men, not of Grey's orders, and so negotiations will still be open. (In reality, they most likely heard the news of the breath machine from Harry).
Once Miran leaves, Kihel Asks Grey if he had anything to do with it, and he says that she really isn't that clever, he wouldn't have done anything like that.

Leaving the party, Miran makes a comment to Harry, saying that although he shouldn't mention it, Kihel and Dianna look very similar.

Final thoughts: This episode was important - we now see the importance of Grey calling Loran "Lora", and what side Loran is actually on is, well, confusing. He grabs Dianna to protect her instead of grabbing Grey Ralf when the assassins pop out from under the cake, and he reveals a lot of information about the mobile suits to Harry. I guess the only consolation is that He has not yet told them that he is really a member of the Moonrace (and a guy...). Dianna also seems about as oblivious to what kind of hardships are ahead as Loran, which is no consolation, as everyone seems to be depending on her.
