Welcome to Gundam Plus II, the successor to the original Gundam Plus site.
Master Grade Sazabi
Ok, here we go, onto the next in my reviews of the Master Grade model kits. Personally, I’ve wanted to get my hands on the MG Sazabi ever since I fight saw pictures of it on the internet. Many people have told me I shouldn’t get it because of their problems and a few times I did order it I was let down when my order was cancelled because of it being out of stock. Finally, after a few years of trying I got my hands on it and recently built it so let’s get to reviewing it.
First off, the box itself is big. I mean, you hear that it’s big but you don’t believe it until you actually have it in your hands. That being said, it’s really nothing that very difficult as I had a harder time with the MG Gundam F91 compared to this. The big thing is that it’s just lots of armor pieces but once you get rolling you’ll find that you’ll be done in no time. The thing I had trouble with was the tubing parts that go around the waiting with those little circle bits that go on the piping. Much like the Zaku, Gouf, and Gouf custom I found them to be very annoying, especially when my hand slipped and all the “tubing parts” fell off but overall it was a fun build.
Total Assembly time – 4 hours
Sadly, the Sazabi shows that size does matter and that sometimes when you’re big that you can move or pose well. The legs give you almost little to no movement so thus you have to just have the kit in a standing position all the time. The arms give you about the same amount of movement so essentially the model has only one pose that it can really do which is have it standing with it’s arms down. A real shame and a kit that really would benefit from the use of a stand that the new models are all coming with today.
I’ve called this model my “Holy Grail” of the Gundam line and that still holds true for me. Putting aside the posing issues with it, once it’s done it’s quite the eye catcher since it stands taller than almost any other Master Grade model you can get. All and all, if you’re a Sazabi fan then you’ll probably want this however if you on the fence about it you may want to either wait for a sale or to try and get it for cheap.
Recommended for CCA and Sazabi fans but avoid if you’re on a tight budget or if posing is a vital must in a kit.
