Welcome to Gundam Plus II, the successor to the original Gundam Plus site.
HG MSM-03 Gogg
I got this kit as part of a lot on Ebay. I’m not the amphibious MS type and I would probably never have thought of picking this up alone. I wasn’t really expecting anything special here but this kit is surprisingly good for a mobile suit I always thought of as substandard.
Assembly:
Gogg’s assembly is pretty much a cakewalk until you do the hands. It took me about a half hour to put together but a skilled person could do it in 15 minutes.
Head:
People who like devilishly simple models will like the head of the Gogg. It is 2 pieces and the only 2 decals on the entire model. One decal makes the interior of the head black and the other is the monoeye. The head really doesn’t move anywhere, you maybe get 45 degrees to swivel it.
Torso:
The torso is very brown. Under the breastplate is a lighter, tanner piece which articulates the vents and missile launchers in the belly. The vents are a red piece which fits on the inside. On the back is the thrusters which is 4 gray pieces together. All in all it’s nothing special and nothing wrong.
Arms:
Here is the best part of the model. The designers really went balls out to make this kit like the show. The arm is 5 pieces that fit inside of each other to make a nice fluid motion in the arms. Your hands also have 5 independent fingers to bring the claws to life. What are you going to do with 5 movable fingers? I made some good scenes of it pinning a GM up against a speaker so you’ll be able to have a field day with this one.
Legs:
The legs on the Gogg are really bulky and more flexible than they look. The knees are double jointed so you can bend the legs however; they’re so big it is hard to do anything with them. The feet are on another socket joint so balance shouldn’t be an issue.
Final Thoughts:
Mediocre kit unless you REALLY like the Gogg. A stand would’ve really made this better so you can see your Gogg swimming. Also, it comes with absolutely nothing for extras. Maybe a Feddie patrol boat or something. So the rating on this kit is really in the eyes of the beholder. I really don’t regret getting it but maybe you will.
