Welcome to Gundam Plus II, the successor to the original Gundam Plus site.
1/100 Zollidia
I picked up this kit as a second chance offer on Ebay. I’m not much of a fan for Victory MS design but this was a 1/100 at a good price so I figured I’d go for it.
Assembly:
This model is pretty easy to put together. Be wary on the legs because if you put the knee joints in wrong, your legs won’t move for beans. Also, there are a lot of small joints on here which you should probably be careful of. The entire kit took about 45 minutes to build.
Head:
Your head consists of a front piece, back piece, visor and a joint piece. You get interchangeable visors, one being gray and the other being clear purple. For the vents on the ‘cheek’, you get red decals to stick there. My big annoyance with the head is more the MS design’s fault. Call it Zolo, Zoloat, Zollidia, Tomilatt, whatever, it’s just the same thing and not nearly as menacing as Uso and co make it out to be.
Torso:
The Zollidia’s torso is pretty solid. The bulk of it is nothing special. Up near the collar you have a piece that can flip upwards to reveal machine guns. This however requires extremely small fingers or something to pry it with. The cockpit is a gray piece, same as the base color and is held in by another red piece which has a green decal on the center. The back has a 2 thrusters and a ‘tail’ which can move up and down rather nicely. Last, molded into the plastic at the hips is the vulcans.
Arms:
The arms here are somewhat interesting. The right arm has a bit of shoulder armor which is just 2 red pieces with a gray piece holding it together. The left arm has some prominent red spikes, like the Gouf or Zaku. Also on the left arm is the beam shield. It fits into the forearm and is massive. The shield when held up to the foot of Zollidia goes up to near the top of the torso. Though it is also really well detailed, the shield is really hard to move and often disagrees with the shoulder. The hands are many separate pieces, allowing the index to move independently and the last 3 fingers to move as one away from the thumb. This makes it easy to grab the gun however the beam sabers do not fight as tightly.
Legs:
The legs are somewhat interesting; however show the biggest lack of effort in designing the model. The skirt armor is on its own piece that you fit over the pelvis joint. The front pieces of the skirt are prone to falling off which is more annoying than anything. Also, 2 of your decals go on the front skirt. Pelvis joint is pretty standard and a green decal goes on the bottom of it. The actual legs have the interesting setup as the knees are double jointed, giving a lot of bending ability. The feet use a socket joint which makes them easy to knock off the model but its no big deal to put them back in. You also get yet another decal for each of the ankles.
Accessories:
The gun that comes along is by far the best one I’ve gotten in a kit. It has a scope on top that rather than just being a piece that attaches on; it pops up from the gun. You also get 2 clear beam sabers which look nice with a little filing. Then last is your beam shield which I’ve covered already. This kit suffers lack of a stand. You would really up the amount of cool poses with one.
Final Thoughts:
I saved this one complaint for the end because it’s not the model’s fault but for a 1/100 it is friggin tiny. It stands slightly higher than a 1/144 Qubeley and that is with Qubeley’s head facing straight. Also this kit has far too many decals. For an ungraded kit, you’ll be getting your money’s worth however; it’s still a kit for people who REALLY like Victory Gundam.
